More like insufficient staffing that has been predicted for months.

What a terrible article. Starts off blaming the employees for purposefully ruining travelers holidays before even getting past the headline.

Oh yeah the article is an absolute bunch of horse sh$! It was hilarious that it opted in a delta generated google feed. Only thing right about it was how bad our cancellations are.

That, and the whole MOAD/VEOP/Reinstatement fiasco, in my opinion is also to blame. In my catagory, I was 75%ish before COVID, I slid near the bottom after the displacement, and then moved up to 60% after VEOP and reinstatements but for October and November, I have been reserve flying weekends and couldn’t get Thanksgiving off. I got Christmas off though, because (I think) they are working on getting the pilots who lost their currency requalled and those pilots will be available for December. My opinion is they let a bunch of non current people sit around and didn’t try to get them current in a timely fashion and it burned us horribly this weekend. Every airport departures board has had a lot of cancelled flights on it.

They could be cancelling flights because of low bookings too. Maybe we are on our way to 23K land again.

What passes for "media" today is nothing but a seemingly endless supply of pop culture obsessed, narrative driven, narcissistic "reporters" who do nothing but spout "agreed upon" beliefs. No time to actually research anything (or want to) just time to write a sensational headline to affirm the popular narrative.

I think with media these days, you get what you pay for.

Love to know what percentage of pilots are on long term indefinite NQAT status, but I'm too lazy (and T-bird stuffed) to look it up.

Well, it may be a case of the chicken/egg then cause I religiously took the major (and local) paper in every town I was stationed in throughout my military career, but actually just last year, after writing to the editor on three different occasions that I refuse to pay high costs for a newspaper that basically just regurgitates the garbage that began being put out by the AP/UPI and had maybe 1/5 of the local content it used to. They always respond that they had budget cuts and let reporters go, which I would respond with then de-link from AP/UPI, and truly become a "local" news paper, but I refuse to support any organization/cable company that continues to fund CNN/AP/UPI.

BTW, now I do pay for access to news sites that I think give a better aggregation of news from around the world. The issue still remains that "journalism" doesn't give two shekels about the truth or facts nowadays, it's just "anonymous sources" or my favorite..."trending on twitter". Ughhhh.
