When do you guys think hiring will resume?
Obviously based on things going back to normal and the training backlog disappearing.

I would guess a year or two, but hopefully closer to a year.

Recruiters did send out a email over Christmas saying those that need to reinterview will be given a chance when they do , usually you have to accomplish that in a time period so hoping it trends to a year

Too many variables. Nobody can possibly answer this question.

Heck, furlough protection was only for a year (I think). That should be a decent bellwether.

Plus 4 additional months with the passage of the CARES extension. Furlough protection now extends to 5/1/22.

I agree we can’t even guess when hiring will resume. The first indication will be recall of the “affected pilots” from their 30-hour non-furlough. A large first batch and a solid vaccine effectiveness will be good indicators.

Did we recently change capacity restrictions? I was on a flight in EC on an RJ and was seated next to someone. If it means capacity is picking up maybe its good news. My recent 4 day averaged about 100 passengers per flight (737) by far the most AI have had since before Covid (BC :D) except for maybe around Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Any official announcement covering this topic?

Its been this way for awhile. With no middle seat, we are only blocking one aisle seat. Specifics are on Delta.com.

Doing a deep clean of the garage. Getting rid of all kinds of krap.

What do I do with old (but in pristine condition) manuals? Do I throw them in recycling? Is there any aviation organization that would want them? Do I need to shred unclassified military manuals? I’m going minimalistic. Our youngest will go to college in 3 years and I want to downsize.

I’ve got:
Full NWA DC-9 manuals
C-130
HH-65
etc,... etc,...

I didn’t read them then, so I imagine I never will.

Should I just recycle them or is there an organization that would want them?

Thx,
Humboldt
