This is good intel, but just a little outdated. The new hotness is you can use just one payback day at a time if you want, just have to communicate it with scheduling on the online form on deltanet. The value of this is ridiculous compared to the old way. If on an international fleet you can turn every PB day into 10-12 hours+ vs the old way, which required you to use as many PB days as you had up to the length of the trip. Second day of intl trip is usually zero, so if you had two PB days, you’d get one big day and one zero. Now both can be YUGE. Works good for domestic sharpshooting as well.

So if a GS pays double above the lesser of the ALV or 75hrs, why does my timecard say "REG G/S TRIGGER: 72:00."?

The ALV is 80.

I think LOA 20-04 permanently set the GS trigger at the lesser of 72 hours or ALV minus five (5).

LOA 20-04 lowered the GS trigger to ALV-5 not to exceed 72hrs.

EDIT looks like 370 types faster than I do

Thanks for that! I'm always worried about screwing something up so I usually try and keep things as simple as possible (have been burned in the past when I tried to get too fancy for my own good and missed something ) but I may try this one.

IMO it is ALWAYS better to use PB days to drop a day or days in a trip if you can. As an example, I got a 4 day GS (21 hours) in June that gave me 5 PB days. In July I used 4 PB days to TOFF two 3 day trips worth 15:45 each. Only used 2 PB days for each trip because last leg home was from HNL and left on the second day but got in at 0622 on third day. Then this month I used the last one to get paid the first day of an ICN trip (11:30). So for those 5 PB days I’m getting a total of 43 hours of pay. Better than a regular line GS! Much more lucrative than getting a vacation day added for 3:15 a day at the end of the year. When using PB days this way you do have to be careful of your MAX Pickup because the credit from these trips counts towards it. If you want to pick up more time you can use one of the other trips on your line and swap one trip for two and you are back up to 75/80 hours only now you get paid for the trip/s you dropped with PB days. I’m sure you are aware but if not……..You can do the swap with pot thing because it doesn’t look at max pickup, just looks at total block time.

90% of the pilots are also unaware that you can swap a trip from the following month into the prior month after schedules are released if you want more time. You can then immediately white slip back the trip you swapped.

Some are also unaware that PtP swaps/drops/pickups can occur as soon as the schedules are published in DBMS, and you don’t have to wait until the 20th.

Alas, some are even unaware there is even a pilot swap board. Additionally, it allows PU above the ALV+ 15 and also you can get rid of trips even though they are over capped reserve day. Go figure....lots of tools, too much naivete.
