That’s every thread these days. The first couple pages have some good comparisons.

i imagine you are prior usaf. So was I. I deployed all the time like you. If you want to become the soccer dad, cook breakfast every morning, Pick up the kids every afternoon, And make up for lost time, bid reserve and live in base.

There is not always an EASY button. Spending 30 minutes reading a thread that has thread drift might be too much for some....it can be tough to pull oneself away from their IM, Facebook. and video games. For others they just consider it part of the "investment".
JMHO.....BTW, I have yet to see someone who is truly invested in the hiring process/questions come back and post their synopsis, summary and lessons learned. Wonder why that is.....maybe there truly isn't and easy button, just a bunch of random guys with random thoughts which may or not be relevant to another's situation.

Exactly. The consternations about commuting are way overemphasized to the point of complete hyperbole. Unless its a unique low frequency multi leg commute, its 95% psychological and you can fix that easily.

Also, even if you do live in base, bases can close. Often when you're in the least flexible point in your life. Some will reflexively say that big bases like DFW for AA, ATL for DL, etc won't ever close and maybe that's true, but that still leaves a lot of pilots in that scenario. Even with the "guaranteed" bases, there are still category closures as well as far more lucrative opportunities at other bases at times. So even if you move to base you may still have to commute unless you want to take a pay and/or QOL hit.

Basing is a valid criteria to help make the best decision you can with the information you have at the time. But commuting isn't that difficult and can significantly increase pay and QOL in many instances. Having a guaranteed stable family environment where only you have to shoulder the often over-hyped inconvenience makes passing on seniority during a hiring boom a pretty dumb decision IMO.

23k question. Amazing how quickly I forgot this from last year
Had a one day trip NOOP. I got 23k for it, doesn't look like they'll be able to use me. Win.

But, we get pay guar for a trip that noops? Don't know why I thought I wasn't getting paid

Good news is you get paid. Bad news is your on call for the first 6 hours after sign in. Good news is that finding replacement flying for a turn is usually difficult.

Thanks, worked out well. Wish I was smart enough to plan something like that. But I'll take it and be grateful
