We need to make enough money that this green slip issue becomes a moot point.

Very well put, sir.

Couldn't agree more. Good hourly rates, coupled with strong trip and duty rigs is better than any type of premium pay and benefits everyone. There is always the ability to pick up open time if you want to make more money...

Uh.. good luck with that. pilots.... double pay... mo money... The chances of greenslips ever becoming moot is about as likely as congress passing a balanced budget in our lifetime.

Thread observations

Been reading this thread for over a year, and occasionally posting, but mostly lurking. Just wanted to get a few things off my chest.

The posters that seem to reference C2K the most, did not work here under this contract and are probably currently working under the best contract of their airline career to date. I'm all for improving things, but the focus should be on how to move forward, not what was in the past.

I'm all for Scope, but find it a little bit ironic that the loudest "Scope Hawks" on here are guys that got to Delta by building time flying RJ's being outsourced by legacy carriers.

There are always complaints about the MEC not communicating, but nothing on here but the sound of crickets chirping when the Chairman puts out a letter describing the current situation with the JAL deal.

I feel better now.

+1 and some folks sound like size 22 FA's with the red dress restrictions!

Good point.

Got the letter from the Chairman, wished it would have also addressed what the special session is all about since the timing of the letter makes you think the MEC is meeting on the JAL deal.

They are trying, but I now really think they and the company are monitoring this thread since they answered questions that were hitting a boiling point like the Yellow Fever and now the angst caused by the JAL uncertainty.

Have found the info the company put out at the recent base visits very informative, now would like to hear the union's take on it.

BTW, took the quote above out of context since I only wanted to respond to this point.

Please remember that a great deal of us hired in 07-08 didn't sign up to fly RJs and didn't have shiny jet syndrome. I started my 121 career on the ATR and would've been happy leaving the regional world on the ATR. As the turboprop fleets were shrunk, the only option was to go the RJ. I do see your point regarding the hypocrisy......

I understand exactly what you are saying. I "payed my dues" in the regionals as well. I only flew turboprops, but it was more a matter of timing than choice. "Shiny jet syndrome" was just starting to become widespread when I made the jump to NWA. I'm all for Delta pilots flying Delta routes. I just would like to see more constructive thinking, and a little less chest thumping. Less finger pointing, and more teamwork in approaching this issue.

Well TS, we did have balanced budgets and even surpluses in the late 90's and 2000. Everything is cyclical. Maybe not this congress, but "Our future will be brighter than our past."
