I think we will see some big upgrades in the next few months.

Yep, should be nice to see some upgrades in about a year or so.

For me, scheduling was mostly on the ball. I think they were just completely overwhelmed. When one of your big, international hubs has most of the planes divert and dozens of planes on the ground there cancel - things aren't going run smoothly. I think the sheer number of changes would make it hard for them to call everyone.

Which is why the IT department needs to use some technology! I mean - how hard is it to have the automated call system be programmed to call pilots who's schedules have changed to say, "This is Delta Pilot crew scheduling - your rotation NYC1234 has changed/cancelled/ etc. Please check your schedule via iCrew/the VRU. Please only call scheduling if you cannot check your schedule online because we are really swamped".

Or they could send it via text message (to those who sign up in DBMS for that - so that we don't have to pay for a text if we don't have it on our.
phone).

+1 I agree with you 100%. How about text us via cell phones? Just about everyone carrys one on their person.

One of the biggest problems was that nobody knew what was going on. My crew was at the airport along with 6 others. All of our flights cancelled in a relatively short time span. None of our schedules reflected the cancellations. Local operations had no information. Nobody could reach reroute/crewtracking/schedulers/crew accomodations.

I know they were swamped which is what brings me to my second point. There needs to be some sort of standard protocol in the event things get ugly. For example, the Captain ensures everyone gets back to the hotel, rested, and ready to assume duty at whatever time.

In my situation, my Captain made the decision after hanging in the crew room for 4 hours that we were going to go back to the hotel. Working with transportation and the hotel, we were able to get ourselves into rooms. Our schedules updated overnight and had we not enterred crew rest, we would have never been able to work the flight. The crews that stayed at the airport were unable to work the flights that were scheduled for them. This only added to the problem.

When did they change the policy about Deviating from a Dead head? I was just told they can only positive space you on a deviated deadhead if its a Mainline flight? They said they can only book positive space on the regionals if its for training?

Super, I'm pretty sure you have that backwards...no DCI pos space allowed for training.

I literally just got off the phone with them requesting to PS home from DTW in the morning instead of my DH. The scheduler and supervisor both said they just got clarification that we CANNOT PS space home on a Deviation IF its not a mainline flight. The flight i wanted was a CPZ flight and she said they cant schedule us on any of the regionals if its when we're deviating from a DH on the last leg. She said the ONLY time they can do that now is if we're going to training. I know for a fact i've deviated before on a Mesaba flight but they said it was a recent change or Clarification. I want to see where this is written or are they making up their own interpretation of the contract on their own? Others have had this problem lately as well.

I am referring to someone else that worked up there. I will look for the name. Someone mentioned him about 10000 posts ago.

She nonreved on one of my flights not too long ago. She said the IT team was swamped with the merger stuff and when that was over they would begin to work on the improvements. She listened to the CA and I for a good 30 or 40 min. I expect she will be on the ball soon.

Yeah, we definitely need someone to get the word out to clarify this. I haven't done the deviated DH thing yet as I've just finished requal training. I was told no when I tried to get positive space on an ASA flight, but approved for a Pinnacle flight. The "welcome to training" letter I got said that you can't get pos space on DCI for travel to training. I'm confused, how about you?
