So 10 years if you go at 60. Is that really that depressing? A lot of guys never make CA at all, let alone WB CA. Guys with 18 years at Usair can barely hold A330 FO lineholder. 18 years for reserve WB FO. How long do you want to drag your butt all over the world? Personally, I like being on the same continent as my family. I'll try WB flying at some point, but unless I can hold a great schedule, I don't know if it's worth it. JMO.

Try it first, then tell me how bad it is. There is nothing like WB international, just ask all the 86-89 former NWA guys who could hold any domestic narrowbody but still choose otherwise. With Skype and all the wonderful smartphones that let you keep in touch do you really need to be on the same continent as your family?

Stop trying to convince him to do it. He is probably senior to me and if he wants to fly around the US and leave the WB international to me, then so be it.

SHHHHHH!

There is added benefit with a young family that for some reason likes to visit the ER with regularity. :D

I am in a international category, I like it, but may opt to keep my down bid for the reason Johnso stated. I like yo-yoing though my hub. Sometimes it makes getting home a lot easier than some of the destinations we serve.

Dude... you're 3 months younger than me and only a few hundred numbers junior. You, me, super and a couple others are going to be in the top 100 for our last 10 years.

Are you really that big of a pessimist? Come on now....

Wow. I'm impressed that you know how many widebody Captains we're going to have twenty years from now. Impressive.

Like I said, I'll try it someday. With an 11 month daughter I'm not really in the mood for back to back 24 hr SC's, and getting stuck half way across the world due to snow, mx, or a terrorist attack. Until I can hold a good schedule on a WB, it's not worth it to me.

I was Hired at a young age. Crystal ball said I would retire Number 5. Hr/CPO said my class would be able to hold dc9 Dtw CA in 3 years, Widebody CA in less than 11 years. THEN SHAH BANG 9/11 happened and I was Out on the street and furloughed->I was alive but CRUSHED. Add salt to the wound Age 65 came around, bankruptcy and a Merger... This is my experience so FAR. I think I retire now at 150.

Lessons to be learned by all: DO your job, have fun, dont brag, save a ton of money AND MOST IMPORTANTLY do not take this job home with you.

Have a back up too because THINGS CHANGE ALL THE TIME! Hopefully We have seen all the bad.
