They have not "officially" made a comment on them, but the "rumor" is that they are staying, getting what upgrades they can. :D

Also, lots o jets will be returning from their vacation in the arid desert of the Western US.

Just going to tell ya that things should get moving here in the next six months or so.....

I like!!! I like very much!!!! :D :p

ACL,

I hope you're right - I'm a 12/2000 hire and I "only" have 12.5 years left and I don't expect to see the left seat before I retire. Holding M88A or DC9A in New York or Detroit (not to put the guys holding those positions down) is not my idea of an A position I want to hold (I live on the West Coast and intend to stay there) so if I can't be a line holder in SLC or LAX then I guess I'll be FO for Life.

I hear you 73N. I have 11 years left if I stay to 65 which, hopefully, I won't. I'm a 6/01 hire and was furloughed almost immediately after consolidation on the 88. I'm on the left coast also and am not moving my family either so being an FO is all I expect to hold. Being in the left seat for almost 20 years in the USAF was great though. I don't mind being the "old sage" in the right seat from here on out. I don't think I'll chase CA in the east if/when it should come up.

From the Maddog stockholm syndrome fan club:

Remember the conversation on the modified MD-80 engines?

http://www.dugankinetics.com/public/...age_Slider.jpg

Click on the image above to see their site.

Well they did their testing and the results are a 20% reduction in fuel burn during climb, a 0.5%-7.8% reduction during cruise, 1% savings during descent, stage 4 now over stage 3 and this:

http://dugankinetics.mirahost.com/pu...sons_Chart.jpg

You basically order a new thrust reverser with that modification. Their website says that they have "initiated negotiations with select MD-80 operators and expects to finalize the lead customer by late spring 2010." Deliveries starting by spring/summer. Hope we're one of them. Any fuel savings would be great.

So the MD88, according to Delta, "the life of the fuselage is expected to be 110,000 flight cycles and 150,000 flight hours... that means that most MD-80s have 20-30 years of service remaining." And if this testing is true then you might just make a 142/150 seater have near the fuel burn of the MD90 and be within 2.5% of the 738.

Interesting. Hope it happens. Sure Boeing and Airbus are excited if Delta can get a way with ordering more fuel efficient airplanes by simply ordering new and improved buckets for their fleet thats only about 19 years old. Now slap these on the 9s and there is our 100 seaters!

I can only imagine how many engine strikes that thing would have. But I think it's awesome. I'd love to be a CA on the MD-88 !!!

FTB,

That would be great. Just taking a quick look at the website, there testing appears to be on the smaller sampling size. It would be great if we could make a deal with them to truly quantify the results and put their product on say 10 of our airplanes, then build a real test program. If the data comes back as advertised, we will purchase for the fleet which includes all the DC9 30's, 40's and 50's .

1234, it would be great, I got the stuff from a different website and they seemed to have more data then I've been able to find on the real site. for instance I could not find this but it was on airliners: "During climb, the flight data recorder showed a peak fuel burn reduction of 20%, over baseline. It has been clearly illustrated that the EP-80 kit works most efficiently during the take-off and climb segments."

I'd only imagine delta would want it tested on our planes and I wonder what would happen on the 9-30s, 40s and 50s. It'd be awesome.

1234, did you get your name from that fiest song? :D

My good smart buddy pointed something out that's awesome for you iPhone users... or totally tubular for you lax crews. In case this has not been mentioned before, if you want to see the airport standby list it's not possible on travelnet flight listings but you can actually check it under Tools on travelnet. Works great.

Slap my fro.

On another positive note:

Our Delta stock, if you so chose to keep it this long, is already up to $14.19 in trading. Up 38 cents from market open.

Just three words to say about that. RISE, RISE, RISE!!!(BWAHAHAHA) <insert sinister laugh here.>

ACL

Since I am a fNWA and not familiar with Scrappy, is that a bad or good thing?
