I think that we will too. I want you guys on our CNC in 2012!

Just wish that you were a little more upset at Delta than you are now ;)

Oh I think we can bring plenty of experience to the CNC when we finally hit the cycle right and negotiate during the great upswing of the economy in 2013 (being a little realistic on the negotiation time-line!)

One thing I am really optimistic about is the fact that for once, my concerns over my retirement will be aligned with the majority in that timeframe...as a junior former Redtail, I consider mine woefully inadequete...I take it that most RD's do as well.

And taking the very informal poll of jumpseaters, most agree that the combined Delta is the place to be right now. And not in the 2000, over-heated UAL kind of way.

We have a plan, a management that is saying all the right things, (trust but verify that last one), and a process that produced a senority list with virtually no appeal....(see US Air on that last point). Love it or loathe it, this snowball is rolling downhill!

I'm not the Koolaid drinking type, but I am cautiously optimistic.

And you guys do know that the whole "hat' thing is the smart ass way of finding something to ***** about, right?

On or about June 1, 2009, Delta plans to replace Northwest as the operating carriers on the above-named routes. ...

Thanks for posting.
I wonder .. does NWA operate those 21 frequencies right now or is this going to be an increase in flying for the new Delta?

Thanks

Questions for the Old Delta guys:

1. If you get checked out on the 767-400 do you have a 2 year freeze where you can't bid the ER or the regular 767?

2. Is your 737 category always going to include the -700's that will be coming in or do they plan on seperating them?

3. What base (s) is the 737-700 operating out of?

4. What are your predictions for the future as far as what aircraft will go where and who will bid them?

Maybe I will start a new thread for the last question. Didn't mean to hijack.

737 ATL, CVG, LAX, NYC and SLC
767 ATL, CVG, LAX and SLC
7ER ATL, CVG, LAX, NYC
765 ATL
777 ATL, NYC
M88 ATL, CVG, NYC and SLC

And it looks like the 767 is going to Asia. So west coast guys will like that and they'll probably have to pull 767s out of ATL and/or JFK, which I guess will be the reductions and therein displacements in January thats rumored to be coming.

I know the 747 will be in ATL, one day 777s will replace 747s to Asia, 88s in MSP/DTW and so forth. I think we'll see planes everywhere, but whether its a base or not who knows. Thats my opinion.

1. Yes, typically if you choose to move to a certain equipment you get a two-year freeze. I considered the ER before choosing the 73N so I could be wrong about that.

2. The 737-800s and 700s are considered the same. 800 guys are getting 700 differences training as they go back through training at ATL. I went through the schoolhouse in July and had one day of 700 stuff after my LOE. Not a huge difference, and most of the 800s have been upgraded to the new software. Can't tell you that I like it any better. Some good, some bad. You can, and will, possibly see a 700 on your rotation. There's only a handful or so 700s at this point but more coming.

3. I'm LA-based. We fly the 700s out of SNA solely (right now). LA-based 73 guys have to cover LAX, ONT and SNA. I think, but am not sure, that the other 73 bases are also operating the 700.

4. Wow! That's the million (billion?) dollar question. I've heard that the 74's will operate out of ATL in the very near future. With the Alaska code share thing, those of us in LA are unsure what that means for the 73 guys here. SLC has 73's and the Airbus thing may alter that. Who knows? DAL has some nice bases, as did NWA. I tend to think that NY will remain junior. LA is very expensive and a difficult commute if you live here (again, covering multiple bases). SLC has a great QOL and is currently pretty senior for DAL guys. ATL is the mothership and has the large majority of guys. CVG is popular with the guys that fly out of there but its also RJ hell (sorry RJ guys, but its true). I don't see a lot of DAL guys trying to go north but SEA and ANC are attractive options. I'd do SEA in a heartbeat.

Hope this helps (as little as it may).

So, if you bid and get the 767-400 you have a 2 year freeze and couldn't go to the 767/767 for two years? I guess I am having trouble wrapping my mind around how you guys do the different categories of the 757/767/767-400/767-ER. Freezes, bases, type ratings.

That's my understanding. We use the equipment differently. I could be wrong. That's how its been for me on other equipment.

newKnow, these are the PWA exceptions of the 24 month freeze outside of the 9 month freeze if you go from a domestic to an international category (international to domestic no freeze I believe):

Exception three: A B-767/B-757 or a B-767/B-757 (International) pilot who is awarded an AE or VD in the same status for the B-767-400ER and undergoes B-757/767 to B-767-400ER qualification training will incur a 9-month category freeze.

Exception four: A B-767-400ER pilot who is awarded an AE or VD in the same status for the B-767/B-757 or the B-767/B-757 (International) and undergoes B-767-400ER to B-757/767 qualification training will incur a 9-month category freeze.
