Another tidbit needing verification.

I called the Jumpseat Desk during normal business hours to book my deviate from deadhead ticket.
No answer. No hold music. No voicemail. Phone just kept ringing.

Called Scheduling and was told that the XCM Desk is no longer manned since we can book it online.

I asked how pilots are supposed to book deadhead tickets for deviating on the backend.

Scheduler told me that in the near future we will have the capability to book that online, but its not available yet. Until its available we have to call Crew Scheduling to book a ticket.

Then I saw this tidbit in Trim Tab

Pilots eligible for expanded jumpseat booking windows (i.e. - Instructors, Line Check Pilots, etc.) must call the Jumpseat Desk (404-XXX-XXXX) or Chief Pilot Support Center (800-XXX-XXXX) to take advantage of those options. Neither the VRU nor the on-line iCrew jumpseat systems are currently capable of identifying pilots eligible for booking windows other than the standard. The on-line system will be updated later this year to identify expanded windows.

I know CPSC is still there, but is there a Jumpseat Desk with a live person or not?

I agree, and I was...

We don't have to use a nonsensical term in the case of that merger. "Widebody" will do just fine.

I guess the 757 could be a "super premium" narrowbody? :D

And well, the DC-9 is super manly narrowbody. Don't make me pull out that picture again.

That's the part that concerns me, but as I said before, I will reserve my opinion until its announced.

Ok. When AK comes up and says that their pilots should be merged into our 7er category, because after all their 737-800's hold as much as our 757-200's*, and our MEC calls our 767 and er flying incomparable because it's abra cadabra hocus focus flying, I will:

1.) Know what they mean
2.) Say "Yeah. Abra cadabra hocus focus flying!"
3.) Realize that they are just trying to do their job. &
4.) Not be embarrassed because (See point #1)

But that's just me.....

* Just an example. I don't know how man pax AK 737-800's hold.

There is. You can not input in your info in the VRU and itll give you an option for the jumpseat desk (for offline guys). I think it's also the same person that is the sign-in desk.

Like our manuals, one subject one place, right?

Look, in order to have a legitimate argument about an issue both sides need to be grounded in reality. This industry has been around along time and there are generally accepted terms used to describe nearly all types of flying. Yours wasn't one of them. I think the arbitrators saw that.

I am not saying that NWA pilots deserve what they got or that they are morons for trying it, or anything like that. I am simply stating that I thought it was a nonsensical term that, quite frankly, weakened your sides case. You obviously disagree and I respect your opinion. That is all.
