Looks like the markets agree as well DAL up more than UAUA and CAL..

And what's with that livery [not that it really matters although it is "the brand"]...using the 20 year old CAL livery and changing the text on the logo to read United...

Mark my words: at the latest 5 years from now they will repaint again

Who's the biggest? From Airline Biz Blog

I've run some numbers to compare the biggest U.S. carriers, and it reminded me how difficult it is to definitively say who's the biggest.

If you take revenues and expenses, the merged Continental Airlines and United Airlines would be larger than all its U.S. peers.

But if you take fleet, traffic and capacity, Delta Air Lines would be largest.

Here's how it goes by category:
• Operating revenues: The combined United and Continental, at $28.9 billion
• Operating expenses: United-Continental, $29.2 billion
• Operating income: Southwest Airlines, $262 million
• Net income: Southwest Airlines, $99 million
• Full-time equivalent employees: United-Continental, 82,340
• Airplanes flown by the mainline carrier, not regionals: Delta Air Lines, 740
• Revenue passenger miles: Delta, 188.9 billion
• Available seat miles: Delta, 230.3 billion

Yen - B of A (or is it Citibank?) ATM after exiting Customs, there are actually two, one near the Customs exit and one waaay around the bend to the right past the escalators.
There is also a machine at the hotel in the lobby behind a door to the left of the desk, exchange rate is crappier than ATM.
There are at least 4 or 5 different restaurants that are favorites for NRT layovers, a couple withing walking distance of the hotel and the rest downtown.
If you are a lunch guy theres a bunch of eateries at the mall along with a HUGE 100 yen store.

Yuan (a.k.a. RMB or Renminbi)- what city? In PEK I have used both the hotel and HSBC ATMs. Heard a rumor that we may be changing hotels again in PEK.

Saipan and Guam - USD. There used to be free food at five at Roy's in Guam but I heard Roy shut down that restaurant along with his Waikiki location many years ago. Haven't been to Guam in ages though...

After hearing you say more than once that the mergers over "get over it" every time a northie raised a flag or two about the way Delta does things it was very refreshing to read your post. We are a very professional group of guys on both sides and I think that's why the "train by memo" routine irked alot of us. But as you can see from your recent experiences that former NWA pilots are just like you, professionals interested in doing the best they can to get their pax to where they are going safely.

Yep. I get it. I sat next to a FNWA 75 guy from LAX to DTW and he laid it all out for me in a very unemotional way. I get it. Makes me appreciate even more just how far this whole thing had to go to make it work. Pretty amazing really. Now, we can sit back and watch UAL and CAL. Like my UA neighbor told me, he only hopes that they will be as civil and successful as we were.

What Nosmo said, I hit the ATMs by the escalators (never a line like the other one) then dash up the escalators one level to ops for your Asia brick. If you hurry you can beat the last flight attendant to the bus.........woooobeeeyou if they have to wait one second for ya:eek::eek:

Nice red shirt there Uncle Ferd... care to tell us your stories?

Ferd149 05-03-2010 11:42 AM

Ya knowwwwwwwww

I actually have a shirt that looks a lot like that, but alas I don't have anywhere near that much hair:(

Fun place, 3 minute walk from the hotel......even towing flight attendants
