Keenster, the problem with YOUR mind set is that all you want is the way YOU used to do it. I happen to think we ARE better and moving in the right direction. Unfortunately for a few of my fellow fNWA brothers, you included, if it doesn't say Northwest it must suck. I firmly understand that there are growing pains and that we've come light years very quickly in merging the world's largest airline. What I'm totally sick of is guys making mountains out of mole hills, turf battles out of trivial BS, and trying to draw divides where none exist. I also happen to think that over time we will take the best of both sides...When you have to make shareholders, the FAA and the flying public happy over night, you choose the expedient option. We had the large majority of pilots, therefore the expedient route was predominately the way we (DAL) did business. Do I think that will remain? No, I don't. Do I care who is the fleet captain for the 320, fNWA or fDAL? No I don't. Pick your battles dude. This ain't one!

That's exactly why United almost bought the farm in SFO with the 744 and came within 50 feet of the saddle on departure with an engine failure. FAA made them go the NWA training and pracitices with currency to keep their certificates. Do you believe in safety man???? Nobody knows better how to train than the line pilot flying the line, but I guess when one get wrapped up some where killing a bunch of people you will just write if off as ops normal and those guys are really good instructors who have the company's and pilot's interest at heart of course safety being paramount. They are not out there doing the job. I rest my case.

Well safety is more than you dude. You guys were totally silent during the NW mechanics strike while scabs who NW dug up from the gutter where working on your airplanes most who they had to fire later because they were drunks or whatever. You know NW aside from having a top notch dispatch and meterology dept also had a top notch maintenance program. Did you know DL came over to the NW ATL engine shop after the DL MD-88 had the uncontained engine failure that killed a woman and her son in PNS and asked at the time was the top JT-8 engine shop bar none and DL found out their practices were different from NW such as streching the bolts on engine assembly. But what did NW do? They dismantled the best engine shop going and shut ATL down. It's all about the money and screw safety. NW was on their way to being another valujet but now DL took it over.

Let's dump all your fleet captains and most all of your chief pilots and many of your alpa comittee guys and you just get over it with no problem dude.

Works for me. I couldn't even tell you the names of any of the fleet captains, know only two CPs, and maybe know a handful of ALPA guys. Go replace each and every one of them with an fNWA person, and I'll ignore them with the same enthusiasm as I do the guys there now.

Could not be any further from what is really true. I am not one that has to have it the NWA way. Both side have good and bad things but so far the door has been slammed hard in our face. I really wish you could experience some of it with all due respect to you because you are probably a really good guy. You might just be a little amazed at a few things. I agree that things had to be done quickly. Now we will see about the looking at best practices. The track record that we have experienced so far does not bode well for making things better and tends to lean heavily at status quoe. Is it so wrong for us to want to make things better??? We seem to always get the above reply that we want the NWA way. Well I am here to tell you that I want a combination of the ways because you have some good things and we do also. It is that simple, but we can't even get our foot in the door to get a discussion going on. That is very frustrating to us. We are mising a golden opportunity here on a whole multitude of ideas that could make this company better. NWA had an equipment services manager that showed dal how he could save them 30 million a year on their equipment maintenance and purchase. He was really good and saved NWA a ton. Door slammed and fired. These are things that we see and do not like. Yes DAL bought us but DAL is not the keeper of all secrets. Sooner or later the opportunities will be lost because people like me , Carl, and Ferd are beat down and we will just be you average grunt pilot that could give a crap about the company and put in our time to get our check and dread working at a company that could have been!!!!!:(
