Will Auburn now be the 2004 national champions? :D That depends on the BCS and the BCS said they'd fall in line with the NCAA and supposedly the national championship trophy will be stripped from USC and removed from their campus. We could be without a 2004 NC. They also say the Heisman Trophy could be vacated for 2004 and no winner, because Vince Young said he wants no part as in winning it retroactively. Reggie Bush has apologized to USC and the fans.

Now, can they strip Matt Leinharts Heisman Trophy for having been, and still being, a total tool.

Vietnam joined Skyteam.

Yeah, I'm LOVING all the wailing and gnashing of teeth out here in LA. Bwaahaaa! They lose their BCS and Reggie gets stripped of the Heisman. There is justice.:D

Brilliant analysis also NU.

P.S. Extracted from Wiki - "In competitive situations other than boxing, rope-a-dope is used to describe strategies in which one partly purposely puts itself in what appears to be a losing position, attempting thereby to become the eventual victor."

The 1990's airline version of this was "We will shrink to profitability."

Not so fast. Rumors are rampant.
I heard Vietnam will be joining the PAC-10.

The thing about STL, and Nu's excellent analysis, is that we get to do something we've never done and that's come in as the "savior", stop laughing. It's like my pick up line in college: " you've tried the rest now try me." But SWA is there and if the worlds largest airline, for now, shows up it'll be very noticed. SWA gives you the lower 48, we're the airline that gives you the world and we think we love you... STL. Which is very different that the norm where SWA gets all the fanfare when they show up. The question is, how would SWA react? Is getting them to ramp up STL a way to bog them down.

I think I heard over at A.net (I troll over there for quotable quotes from the wannabees sometimes) that SWA has a number of operational problems at STL, and it's resulted in long waits for gates and some grumpy people.

Any rumors about STL may have something to do with that. Of course, STL has a number of "operational challenges" with respect to the runway configuration and design of the terminal, but I think some of those have been fixed.

Personally, I think I'd be way cool to start flexing our muscle domestically. I think I'd be REALLY cool if that meant a left seat for me in a DC-9, MD-88 or a C-Series.

I don't like international. I do like MSP-FAR, MSP-GFK, MSP-OMA, DTW-LAN, DTW-GRR and the like. It's how I'm wired.

When someone asks me where I fly on the DC9, I always say someplace great or grand.

Grand Forks, Great Falls, Grand Rapids...

Not saying this would necessarily be good or bad for us. But a couple of points about STL (based on my 8 years experience flying for TWA):

1. From what I understand, it is potentially a very lucrative airline market.

2. Geographically, it is pretty much smack dab in the middle of the country.

In the past, the runway configuration was definitely a problem for a big hub operation. But with the new runway, I think this would be better now.

Should be interesting...

Well, I'll be the first to hope for this to come true. All I need is a small little M88/90 base in STL. That's not too much to ask for is it? I'll even bid the -9 if they'd base pilots there.
