Not sure I would slow an aircraft back below LRC based upon gate availability. When planes are in the air they are burning time and fuel, the clock stops with the WOW and one engine at idle on the deck is always more efficient than two at max endurance in flight. Can't validate the concept as I have never used Atilla.

I will never slow an airplane more than 1 or 2 minutes below target time.

The fact is that ATILLA is mathematically invalid. It does not include any of the required variables for a good forumula.

The worst is that it assumes compliance in the output data which have no input into compliance effort or outside variables into what actually goes into aircraft hitting the targets. The fact is that ATILLA is a complete and total waste of money and some idiot in a desk with no mathmatical apptitude thinks it works. It doesn't. It is stupidity and makes us all look stupid when we try to comply with it.

Come up with a program that truly sees the big picture and can work with ATC and manuever the operation and I will believe. ATILLA is a money pit and nothing more.

Of course all of this is in the 10th to 15th hour of your duty day. Seriously, what is up with this continuous turn over in equipment?
So let me get this straight, you are required to go thru 10 DAYS worth of write ups that have already been cleared by MTC on former NWA aircraft and look up every MCO even if it was cleared? I missed the memo on this one. I understand the need to look at the history of the last few days and the need to look up any open MCO's from the logbook in the MEL but to look up write ups that have been cleared by MTC more than a few days before seems fairly ridiculous to me.

Denny,

I knew we had to HAVE 10 days of history in the NWA A/C and F/A logbooks. I didn't think we had to READ all of it.

(No, seriously. Maybe I'm wrong, but....)

I can't answer your exact question, but FAs are *****ing up a storm about catering. Lots of "not enough soda", "not enough ice" and "where is everything" comments are coming out in the IFS FA monthly call-in. You can read those transcripts if you want on DeltaNet - sometimes interesting, sometimes not. In DeltaNet go Departments/IFS/Our Airline, Our Future/Click here for transcripts [on rt side]

Well NewK, for you and photographic memory that can recall word for word the logbook, MEL, MDM and whatever other alphabet soup manuals there are, this is a breeze!! But for us mere mortal men.........DOH!!!

Seriously though if you have to look up every cleared MCO for the last 10 days..........it could take some serious time. I review the last few days and look up any open MCO's in the MEL but that doesn't usually take too overly long.

For any others reading this post, I don't normally say anything about spelling, punctuation, sentence structure, syntax (whatever that means) or other items in posts but here goes and I'll stand by for incoming on my posts! But I have two things I want to point out: 1) 99% of the time it's i before e except after c! 2) It's "in other words" NOT "anotherwords!"

I'm not pointing any fingers 'cause I can't figure out when to use accept vs. except! Just thought I'd throw this out in the ether.

Standing by for incoming!!

Denny

PS. I realize that "smart phones" (an oxymoron maybe?!) and typos can lead to some weird (a 1% word) posts. I'm not talking about those!!

Just completed a 4 leg, 2 day trip and we were late 3 of 4 legs because we were gate checking a lot of bags at the last minute. I don't know if this problem is specific to the 737 or all Narrowbody aircraft but it seems to be getting worse.

The whole D-0 emphasis and the charging for checked baggage (forcing everyone to try to carry-on as much as possible) seem to be in direct conflict.

We better get this figured out pretty quick or we are going to have some pretty poor numbers this summer.

The flight attendants are not happy. Essentially they switched the entire domestic coach product to how NW did things. Like the former NW pilots on here change is hard. I suspect that once they get used to the NW way things will go smoother. Catering is getting a lot of attention and should improve also.

All this talk about catering etc is nice but this thread was started by Guard Dude with hiring in mind. To that end, according to ACL on another thread 5 of 8 made it past day one yesterday on the first day of interviews!
