DC-9 war story along these lines. Several years ago, some bright bulb took out the ovens (just aft of the FC galley) to save weight. Next thing all of us DFW commuters start seeing is a weight limit due to "balance". Without the ovens, they had to block the back row (5 seats). No one ever answered the fuel saved vs revenue lost question.........and when you tried to convince the gate agent that putting us IN the jumpseat would help the problem, it just fell on deaf ears.

Hope someone smarter than an inflight manager is looking at this issue. Yes, NWA did stupid stuff too

I don't commute, but that could of course change. Getting the j/ser's on is critical. I'm shooked neither crew member knew of the policy.

We have to look out for each other, especially when its offical company policy.

Keenster,

I know you said you listed an hour before the flight. Please excuse my feeble (mad cow and all) mind but did you list with the gate agent without going thru the VRU or via the VRU and then go activate it with the gate agent? If it was the second then most definitely pursue this by talking to the CP and/or sending it in via an FCR. This needs to be nipped in the bud. If it was the first...............lesson learned................always JS list via the VRU first.

If the deal goes through will CPZ and MSB pilots loose the flow up and Delta pilots flow down in case of F?
True or false? False, the flow agreement would go along with the sale unless its negotiated away by us.

Thanks

Listed thru Icrew on my Iphone. Had to cancel my nonrev listing to do it. As soon as I got listed 5-10 minutes later checked in with the agent and got the Jump tickets handed to me. Crew shows up and I go down early to put bags away. Plane fills up. Agent brings down paper work and says I gotta get off for load beyond push time. Figured not the time to argue and do as told. Moved on to next flight and got on. Just want to know how to handle it if comes up again. I appreciate all the input.

I would have done the same thing. Most definitely pursue this further, it should not have happened. Glad you got on the next flight!

They are pretty much slammed out of any process that might be taking place. Some pretty unbelieveable things have happened like "sit down and shut up there is a new sheriff in town". Its sad when the entire LCA group of one airplane has to do a letter about their position on a particular issue and threaten quiting in mass if they can't be heard. I call that pretty poor leadership in the flight ops portion of management at this company especially when dealing with a safety of flight item. We are not asking for things to go a certain way, It would be nice to have serious debate and really try to find best practices. I don't see that happening. I am waiting to see some glimmer of light that points to this taking place. Lip service is not what I am looking for. As Carl says, performance and results are what count.
Gentlemen:

Can you please give examples? Not just examples, but can you please give names of all the people involved in each of these situations?

You can private me the names.

I intend to ask the road show management guys about these situations. And you should too. Put them on the spot. Ask them why this happened. Make them squirm or sweat in front of a group of pilots. Put them in an uncomfortable situation.

I've been to two meetings where the management has talked. Not once has anyone mentioned anything like this. The only thing "controversial" I've seen asked was one Captain ask why in the hell do we have RJs then when they just said that they had the highest CASMs in the fleet. Even though this was ATL and CVG, there were fNWA pilots there.
