Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
Waves,
You are losing me here - "...discouraged the SO to not run the packs while hooked up to ground power."
Reading this literally I think you are saying the LCA wanted guys to run the packs and external. Did you mean to say you "encouraged" guys to not run the packs while hooked up to the ground power."
I seem to remember it as the later, but its been a long time and since we had ROPEs back then, the only time I ever flew was on National Holidays. Of course I flew on every National Holiday.

Great catch! You are absolutely correct. What Gus was trying to say was ------. OK, Damn, I hate working with such smart guys. Ha They always make me look bad. LOL You are probably not an FO, but I actually love to fly with brilliant FO's. They make a Captain's life so much easier. I would normally blame this on a typo, but it was more of a braino. Thanks Scoop
P.S. I had forgotten about the ROPES. As a former 727 Captain, I remember stressing out about flying with ROPES. The fact of the matter is, they actually performed excellently and I never had a problem with them. Considering many of them were former senior 727 Captains or professional engineers, I anticipated a power struggle. It never happened on my watch. They did a great job, and their system knowledge was certainly never in question. I will say though, they were almost silent for every trip. Not sure why. All for now.

Official word is because we are bringing two more out of the desert for next summer and increased utilization. Hopefully the real answer is that we are about to get 9 or 10 more of them.

Waves ,
No sweat, and for the record I am an FO - but people don't usually describe me as brilliant. Fred Ward as Gus Grissom - Classic!

Man, you are the encyclopedia Britannia of DAL procedures and ALPA policy. The DAL pilot group and bloggers on this site should really appreciate your expertise and moderation. It is obvious to me that you spend a quantum amount of your personal time researching endless questions about our profession. I just want to be one of the vocals here to thank you for your devotion to our focused cause. I am probably very senior to you, yet I confess, you probably know twice as much about our current rules as I do. Thanks again to your devotion to our profession.
You can be my wingman anytime. LOL OK, maybe too many cliches. Ha
Maybe I should have said, "You can be my FO anytime." I don't think hollywood has used that one yet. LMAO
This thread sure has some sharp guys like yourself on it. We don't always agree on everything, but our goals are certainly mostly aligned. Later.

College Football on ESPN tonight!! It's here!!!
Where were you last night? USC (not the SUCK, T-square) played, well dominated Southern Miss and USC (that one) played Hawaii. Now if we could just get someone, anyone (cue super) to post the requisite cheerleader pics, we'd really be in business!

Thanks for the compliment buddy. I guess I like to make sure our guys are getting the info one way or the other. I also do not have all the answers, but I generally can get em with a little digging.
To expand on the conversion question. For a guy that is just recalled and going though their first requal training, they are going to more than likely send you though this training even if you are awarded a AE on this bid. AE's are processed in seniority order. What that means is that even if you are awarded a new seat on this bid, it may be four or five months before you are in training again.
Now if a guy is MDed from a previous bid and awarded a reinstatement on this AE the company and pilot crew planning will make every attempt to save the training event and use the sim time for someone else. Of course it still needs to respect the seniority order that the AE.VD and MD's are processed in.

Almost forgot to post this info.
iCrew on Android
Tested with Droid2, Android 2.2 Froyo
Stock Android Browser, Deltanet - yes, iCrew - NO
Dolphin browser, Deltanet - yes, iCrew - NO
Steel browser - ugh
xScope Browser, Delta- yes, iCrew - NO
SkyFire browser, not attempted
and finally
Fennec a.k.a. Firefox Mobile, Deltanet - yes, iCrew - YES!!!
Fennec's latest alpha version (25Aug10) is bloated and slow but you can get iCrew to work including viewing your schedule. It's not easy and will require some extra effort to get the scrolling to work so you can see some of the buttons and the little airplane symbols don't always appear correctly for rotation info, but I got it to work. Just remember its an alpha version so there will be much more work done before its called a final product.
You won't find it in the Android Market. You will have to google it and download it from the website. You will also have to Settings > Applications Settings and enable Unknown Sources. Just remember to disable Unknown Sources after the Fennec installation is done.
Good luck
