I always loved the look of the L1011 and have to add that I prefer that livery over the current.

Where's the L1011?

Looks like a Lockheed is in the back by the hangers, tough to tell. The 74 looks great in the PAA colors, to bad that name wasn't saved, talk about branding!

I want someone in there who protects seniority. If a slot is open, seems the senior guy oughta have first crack at it. But that's just me.

Well, the senior guy had a crack at it and did not bid it. Therefore when a junior guy got the position and if he were ever displaced, no one would get awarded the position until all displaced pilots were recalled. The only way a senior guy could bump in was a base closure , a new base, or moving the aircraft to a new base. So if you wanted it you better bid it because someone junior will get it just like it is now the only difference being that recall right lasted forever not just 6 months. Pine you being such a company guy would love this, think of all that training money it would save the company.:D

You are doing it right. Captains are supposed to be giving up legs if the FOs need landings. Most do it, but not all. Its not mandatory.

FOM Section 3.2 :

Recency
Captains/First Officers
Pilots are required by FARs to accomplish three takeoffs and landings in the previous 90-day period. Captains should discuss recency with the First Officer(s) at the beginning of the rotation and manage flight legs to ensure all pilots remain qualified. On flights requiring more than one First Officer, seat position should be determined by the need to maintain recency, not by the rotation the pilot is flying.

"Culture" question -

Delta has never really made any distinction about which FO was on the "relief pilot" rotation. Once you signed in, then it was always discussed about who would be relief on which legs. There would then be a gentleman's agreement based on who needed a landing. If both guys were OK on recency, then it would be a coin toss. Was that not the case at NWA? Did one guy come in knowing he was "relief pilot" for the trip?

Oh I never said I did that. I said cool captains. :D On my crew we do the Rochambeau thing that Cartman did on South Park to decide. I kick first though.... hehehe

I loved the PanAm paint scheme near the end where PanAm took up half the jet. I think the Delta on our jets is way too small, especially on the whale.

forgot to bid 06-29-2010 04:22 PM

?? If I'm understanding your hypothetical ?? - the answer is no.
You can't go back retroactively and say that since you didn't fly you will count it as rest.
If you were on call, it was not rest. Even if they never called.
You can't "waive" the FARs.

Not hypothetical but actual. But if the rest period is in the middle of 7 days on day 3 and you yellow slip or gs that day 3 and they need you does the ys and gs trump rest? Because even if you fly a 4 day you're legal as long as you don't work day 7, right? Or does rest supersede and cancel any ys or gs automatically?
