On the crew rest thing. You are correct. Do what works, but make sure the to crew is the ldg crew. If you want that to change petition it.

Yeah, I remember someone posted something about how the app page had something about our "over 400 aircraft." (vs. the 700+ we now had with the merger.) The next day, the page was changed.
On another note, anybody know what the body count is up to from the interviews? I heard (ACL say) 5 got through. Any further info?

Seconded - there are a lot of things that are briefed in training, OE, on a particular rotation, that sound like procedure when they are actually techniques. It is up to YOU (and I believe most of us are highly experience pilots) how you want to fly your airplane. There is only one PIC on every aircraft (even the 4 man crews) and he has the authority to run the flight however he wants as long as he doesn't violate FARs, written company policy or flight manual restrictions. I believe one of the big differences culturally between Delta and NWA were NWA seemed to have lot more procedures telling you exactly how to do things on your airplane while Delta gives the crews (both Cpt and F/O) a little more latitude. If it's not against any of the above Carl (and all the other unhappy fNWA captains) should be able to run their cockpit however they want. As an F/O, I've flown with Captains that do some things a little different and it is my job to run the airplane how he wants - as long as he's within the rules.

Not hypothetical but actual. But if the rest period is in the middle of 7 days on day 3 and you yellow slip or gs that day 3 and they need you does the ys and gs trump rest? Because even if you fly a 4 day you're legal as long as you don't work day 7, right? Or does rest supersede and cancel any ys or gs automatically?

Might wanna run it by Geordi Leforge, but here's my sea lawyer answer. Unofficial of course:
Scheduling has to follow the open time award sequence contained in the contract. It says open time WILL be covered under Sections 23.N and 23.O. There is no exception for pilots on assigned rest.
23.M.7 says they can deviate from that only to "maintain schedule integrity". But if they do that, then the guy who was supposed to get the trip is pay protected.
Bottom line -
If you are legal for the trip, you get it. So yes, the yellow or green would trump the assigned rest.
If it were otherwise, then skeds could easily violate seniority in the trip awards by just assigning "rest" to one guy and giving the nice greenie to the next guy.

There in lies the problem. When you sat in a NWA jet in the right seat you knew exactly what the guy in the left seat expected and you did exactly the same thing in the right seat every flight, no guessing what is this guy going to do and expect. As well you knew exactly what the guy in the left was going to do. This allowed immediate recognition of a guy that might be out to lunch and then you knew you had to be on your toes if that was the case. Just saying how it used to be not that it is better than DAL because I can not judge how you guys run things until I exerience flying with enough guys to make a judgement.

What's all this "crew rest" talk? Isn't that when you hang out in BDL or FLL for 4 hours between flights?
