Another "stupid" Jumpseat Question
I found the MEC alert which changed the jumpseat booking window (MEC Alert 10-02). Thanks to everyone who replied earlier. I do have one other question.
Is there a minimum time requirement in order to cancel a jumpseat request? For example, say that I find a flight that is empty and will get me to my destination and departs an hour before my JS flight. Can I cancel my JS request and non-rev myself on the earlier flight? Or is there a minimum time requirement to cancel the JS? Thanks ... -Fatty |
KC-10, there is no min requirement. If you get on cancel it as you get cleared, just do not block more than one JS at a time on the same route on the same day.

Thanks ACL. Just as you posted, I found in the FOM. They would like us to cancel 30 minutes prior if possible.
Since I'm not a commuter, these rules are new to me. I just want to make sure I'm not "that guy" who screws it up, screws others' out of a seat, or gets called to the carpet. :) Thanks for the help .. |
What are the new windows? I missed that one.

The Good News: Our 747-400's and 777 Captains make $550 per hour. The Bad News: We only have one 747-400 & one 777 on the property. :( A joke? Yes. But, the point is, what good is a pay raise if you are on the street, or flying 2 or 3 categories lower than you should be? I think everyone understands that scope is where it all begins.... NewK; I do NOT think EVERYONE understands that scope is where it all begins. (caps for emphasis, not yelling) And it is the "will" of the masses that the MEC points to when they negotiate. Scambo |

Go read your MEC update sitting in your e-mail in boxes.
I read the email update and to me it does not say a lot. I want one simple statement from our MEC, we will not give in on Scope. However, I am not confident that that is the case. I heard more on the pay raise for scope relief rumor today. This came from a south guy who firmly believes that this sale of Messaba and Compass are part of this soon to come LOA. According to him the letters from the MEC are eyewash based on history of the MEC. According to him it is a pattern, the line pilots catch wind of what is happening and the MEC puts out a letter to say no way. Then a couple of months letter the LOA comes out. Now I am generally a glass half full kinda of a guy but I am starting to wonder what the glass is full of. I am hoping this is not true and it is one guy complaining. However, I think each one of us needs to get the message out to our LEC reps that scope is not for sale. |
