Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
At least he will not be over there eating a stick of beef jerky, saying, Yep, you screwed that one one too."
Did you tell him, "Fine, just so long as they are the ones identified with the #." Otherwise, I'd tell him to stick to the LOD and quit going off reservation.
I say great, lets go though them, they are not memory limitations, so lets learn a few new things today.
Just let them know they are smarter, and salute smartly.
Ok boys, back to serious stuff!!
I'm obsessing about my first "Delta" checkride this week. The good news is I have a fNWA APD. The real good new is I'm alone and so the D period sim shouldn't go till 11pm.
But, what is a "SFA"? (the notation after the guy doing seat support)
Is the Oral "really" one hour long? I need details, fell free to PM them

Regarding the "orals" at Delta:
Its been my experience that the APDs and instructors are all first rate.
They can tell in the first 2 minutes whether you've studied and know your stuff.
If you do, the oral is very low key and short.
You don't have to be a systems expert; just be able to rattle off the limitations and memory items, know most of the learning objectives and you're good to go.
If you come in and obviously have not prepared at all, you're gonna have a long day.
I don't think that happens very often, but I've heard some stories.
SFA = seat filler (not sure what the "A" is. Capt maybe)

Yeah, I always obsess and over prepare, especially for the old NWA systems trivia test.......but, it doesn't mean I'll look smart and still not screw up
I've heard that the guys are real good. The retired Delta dude I had in March for 606 was a great guy to work with. But, it wasn't checking either. Anyway, back to the LOD
Thanks for all your help guys

You drew a SFA - not your lucky day. Here is how it goes at the big D. We have two types of Seat fill (SF) guys, cool guys (SFC) and a$$hoes (SFA) and unfortunately you drew a SFA.

Only kidding - I think you know by now that is just means its a seat fill dude - and by the way in 11 years they have all been SFC for me.

As far as the oral goes, the more you know, and consequently the better you are doing, the shorter it is. 1 hour is just after brain dead and prior to comatose on the universal zombie scale (UZS). I bet you don't go past 20 minutes, freshly dead on the UZS (from Monty Python).

Good luck - even though you won't need it.

^^I'm on the right if you can't tell ^^
The blank stare with no blinks works in the oral but not so good in the sim.
This was my first recurrent, but my type rides were really laid back and relaxed and even though we did this limitations "in-depth review?" the actual sim ride was rather relaxed, there wasn't too much into systems and we reviewed the walk around cds (which are online). Basically the limitations and walk around pics opened as much discussion as was necessary to prove a working knowledge of the systems.
The word of the day in my 88 recurrent, fwiw, was windshear. They taught and then we practiced the windshear takeoff maneuver.

Actually Carl it was not my post that I quoted. It was from another APC member. In the end I guess I should be happy NW chose the path they did because it played heavily in the SLI list construction by the arbitrator. Credibility is very important in negotiations like a SLI issue. In the end it produced a list that exceeded what I expected and was perhaps not fair to the senior pilots at NWA. Its always best to keep things above board and accurate when its going to come back to you in hearings.
The good news is, you've given me another post to use as punishment for the next time I have to issue a yellow card!

I'm calling tomorrow for a SFC!!Thanks for the laugh!!
Ok, really..........back to the LOD. No really!!
The whole scene just reminds me of Godfather I & II and The Don, Michale Corleone, Hyman Roth, Sonny, et al, and the whole notion of business v. personal.
The SLI debate a few years ago was just business. If you are still caught up in the arguments of it, so long after it has been decided, means you took and are taking it personal.
Some should learn a lesson from this guy.....
