So Foxnews is waiting for a Delta 738 to come in with a blown tire.

And before the "media doesn't understand aviation blah blah" fwiw the ever hot Megyn Kelly and pilot John Scott is far more realistic than the idiot aviation experts the media calls to explain things. This guy is ****ing me off, the inflection in his voice and he says Delta has 4 parallel runways.

Give me the reporters over the aviation experts.

Ha, the reporter nailed it, this is most likely a non event. Oh there's your problem, the aviation expert is a corporate pilot and editor of a magazine, I.e. Worthless. Put the reporters back on, dump the corporate pilot trying to be the hero.

The producers of Airplane actually BOUGHT the rights to a movie called Zero Hour!, and filmed it with the exact same script, except changing a few nuances and lines. To this day, they still own the rights.

Funny how inflection and a few lines makes a huge difference.

See for yourself:

PS The airplane noise in "Airplane" is actually the engine noise from "Zero Hour!"...it was the longest running gag in the movie.

That is crazy!!!!!!!! Very cool Nu.

"swap a trip" wrap up

When I asked them why my swaps were being skipped over I couldn't get a straight answer. 90% of the time it hasn't been an issue, but it has been happening to several people of late. Even if there is a conflict with reserve coverage they have to give a denial reason on the swap. Call them.

There was a denial code - just didn't know what I was looking for. It was valid in my case - sorry you've had trouble with it in the past. For the record, I've not had any trouble with the scheduling dept thus far. Perhaps my day will come, but every time I call - often, since I'm usually on reserve - they've been pleasant and helpful. Guess it might depend on who you get... The trouble I've had, and perhaps it's just me, has been learning how to use the features in iCrew. This thread is invaluable for sorting out these things. Thanks to all.

It's domestic, even though you can see Russia from there:D

Ok, a domestic reserve PCS question for you guys -
I'm trying to move some X days to maximize my vacation next month. The move would create an 8 day availability block. I know we can have up to 9 reserve days on in a row now but PCS is kicking my request back with the following "1: WARNING - PILOT NEEDS 24 HOURS REST." I called scheduling and they said that I could not move x days that would interfere with required rest which seems to be in conflict with the new policy. Any thoughts?

The "9 rsv days in a row" is only capable through the PBS phase of bidding. Once you're awarded a line with less than 9 rsv days in a row, you cannot use PCS to create 9 RSV days in a row. The max days in a row that PCS can create is still 6 for domestic categories.

Scheduling doesn't know what they are doing. Standard.

Thanks RVR - question answered. I don't understand why there would be such a limitation, but question answered none the less
