Can someone answer this? The reserve coverage chart accounts for trips in open open time, yes? In other words, if it shows 12 trips in open time and -2 reserves for the day does that mean there are 10 reserves available that day?
Res Avail are the reserves left at this point in time using all reserves to cover known open time. Lets say you see the following. Res Req Res Avail 12 2 That means that we have 12 reserves available. After Crew Skd covers all the trips in that base they will have 2 pilots left to cover additional sickouts, jury, DIF, MLOA, etc. after that is said and done most likely they will not have any reserves left to set up on shortcall. So if trips remain or open up they will use another Bases reserve pilots to cover the trips left in open time. If they have no reserves in other bases then they will move the trip back to the original base and Greenslip to cover. Also for a P/D you need the Res Avail plus 1 to get the P/D. If you are using your APD then the number of Res Avail must be at least 25% of the Res Req. In the above case it would be denined. You would need 3 and the APD would be approved. Next look at section 23I of the PWA it list holidays that two days before and 1 day after the major holiday a APD can be denined regardless of the staffing. Superbowl included ;-) Fly safe! |

Is her pierced bellybutton going to set off the metal detector? That way she doesn't need to remove all her "hard to reach" piercings. |

Res Req are what the company determines it needs to run the operation as defined in section 23W of the PWA.

That's the idea but the formula actually includes all trips that touch that day, including trips that went out the day before, etc. So they are -2 for that number. Obviously, the closer to the day you are looking at, the better the number, but it does give you some idea of their ability to cover.

The CRJ900 is very uncomfortable. The exit seats are the worst. I'm only 5'10 and the seat must be 5 inches from the back of my knees. The headrests don't even stay, they just slide right back down. The tray tables in 1st class unfold out of the armrest, & they're such pieces of crap they droop in your lap like a v so your drink constantly slides to the center and tries to spill. The whole thing reminds me of a tyco toy.

You can relax. Thats not the fleet plan or the model. They are buying up to 60 MD 90's and just put online a bunch of 700's in the last two years. They are also taking delivery of some 737-800's that were going to be sold. I think two in the last quarter and perhaps more next Spring.
Having said that they have no interest in a 100 seat aircraft. I doubt they will ask to fly one outsourced even as a throw away in their contract opener. They simply don't want the aircraft. The last 100 seat aircraft Delta ordered was in 1983. More 737s! (More 737 paying jobs!!!) |
What the heck does a Q mean on a trip in Open Time?
