According to some LCAs I flew with, this will eventually be the policy. The OUT time will be de-coupled from the beacon and be generated when the main cabin doors are all closed and the brake is released. IN time will be the parking brake set and a main cabin door opened.

Okay, yeah, that makes sense.

Then when guys start sticking credit cards in the door to get that out time with the door open... Then we'd be like every other airline. ;)

Even easier. Disable the GPS in the FMS (it will stop automatically updating the ACARS and FMS time), select DME/DME as primary, place the #3 VHF onto a non AIRINC freq. (so nothing is updated in RES/SABRE/PARS), modify the system time as required, follow company procedures, move off the gate and away from cameras, place #3 VHF back to the primary AIRINC freq. ( this will update RES/SABRE//PARS but you'll be away from the cameras and ACARS periodically go NO COM anyways) and finally enable that GPS receiver before you fly that RNAV departure.

I think this is how other airlines do it, not that I know from personal experience.

Next week, I think we'll go for Bond and Casino Royale, the new one. It has to be manly, but not Tombstone or Fight Club. See you have to walk a thin line but it pays off in the end when football season rolls around.

Something about making copper wire by tossing a penny between two pilots comes to mind. I like an extra buck or two as much as the next guy but.... just damn!
