Scambo;
Interesting article. In the most basic of terms, companies will "try" to keep employees and see how they are doing in the higher tax environment. If they can succeed they will keep em, if not unemployment will spike.

In regard to families and individuals, more taxes means less money to spend elsewhere.

Soooooo........SE taxing on a -9 sometimes can blow stuff over......:eek:

I just SE taxied the other day at almost 120K in a -50. Finally had a cool enough day where we could afford to do it and keep the cabin comfortable. We weren't on asphalt. (And I wouldn't have done it on asphalt.) But it worked out fine. Kept it under 1.2 EPR (which is low enough to keep from tripping the packs and doesn't blow stuff over) and she rolled just fine. You have to be patient... it takes about 5 seconds or so to start rolling.

BAH! Just reach up to the Air Conditioning Auto Shutoff Switch and flip to Override(or is is Auto?). Whatever position you normally have it in airborne. Then packy no turn offie. :p

Yep, I use that technique (usually only out on a taxiway and/or crossing a runway) as long as I know there's not anything behind me that might get blown around too much. As a rule of thumb, though, if you don't use enough thrust SE to trip the packs, you're not using enough thrust to blow anything over behind you.

Agreed. And some of our operating inefficiencies are ****ing even more money away.

Anyone want to take a gander at how much fuel it costs us on a daily basis to carry around an extra 10-20K of fuel on every international flight because we don't use re-release flight planning because FPS is not nimble or accurate enough to plan accordingly?

I'm guessing it negates all the APU and SE taxi combined and then some. Doh!

Also discussing with a LCA that FPS will never plan you over FL380 as a software limitation? Fact or fiction?

Or how much we spend on a daily basis buying hotel rooms in ATL for mis-connected passengers?
