I am a lurker. Would it be unfair to assume that the guys less senior to #11533 are DC9 drivers, or would they be on the 32S too?
I believe that full pay restoration would only be possible with support from both customers paying higher fares and/or shareholders willing to accept lower returns on their investment in DAL. In the near future I don't believe that consumer would support any significant fare hikes above 2008 levels nor would shareholders want accept below average rates of return. As time progresses pilots need shareholder support to make further capital investment with new aircraft to replace DAL's aging DC9s, MD88s, early build 752s, no-ER 763, and early build 320s which will need replacement before 2020 if pilots want to have job security and prevent the fleet from shrinking further like AA did this past decade and will likely do in the next decade. You pilots don't want to end up in a situation where DAL would be worth more liquidated that continuing to operate.
I disagree. Pilot costs are fixed costs. Fares are variable. With the extra revenue from baggage fees, pilot fixed costs should be allowed to rise. You are only worth what you negotiate, and that is the same with management. They have no problem taking large bonuses, with or without board approval. And, your last sentence sounds a little bit like a management negotiator's. Full restoration may not be in the cards yet, but a hefty pay raise and better work rules along with tighter scope is in order. |

This is a testament to how bad our reserve system is. Pilots would rather be lineholders on DC-9's and MD-88's than reserve on a 757/767. International is where the line is drawn. The 767-400/A330 and bigger are nowhere near new hires.

Seems as though the migration south did not happen on the 1st 2 AEs as predicted. There seems to be a migration north though. Not sure why guys are migrating to the junior bases, maybe to be more senior.

NTSB Cites Pilot Fatigue in 2009 Delta Landing - WSJ.com
Fatigue....interesting considering the recent press on the new FAA proposal. |
Lets remember that there were 430 wide body seats taken out of ATL three bids ago. They are going where they can fly these jets. I am sure the migration South will happen when the 330 gets based in ATL.

I know this has been posted b4, but what's the 22D2 and 22D3? What in layman's terms do they mean to me?

Min staffing and real staffing, headcount.
