Somewhat concerned about this, looks like our stock price is taking a hit while everyone else is on the rise.
I know Wall Street tends to be hypersensitive to these types of announcements, but still if analysts are looking at this as strike against the big "D" I can't help to be concerned.
Personally, I wonder about the amount of people that fly to-from ATL in contrast to the people who fly thought ATL. No denying it, the SWA-AAI merger will have a comparable network structure against us, but I wonder how much we trump them on destinations out of ATL.
If we can sacrifice the loss on comparable routes while salvaging the profitable ones, maybe this won't be that much of a kick in the pants.
Still somewhat concerned though...

Sell on the inevitable upswing prior to our earnings announcement as "those in the know" pile in. Price your sell order a few cents higher than the current trading range to grab the moron who places a market order before he goes to bed.

I imagine the slot swap is alive and well again.
SWA just picked up some 40 slots out of ewr a couple weeks ago. If I remember correctly CAL swapped some LGA slots with airtran less than a year ago to give airtran quite a few slot in LGA.

I can guarantee this merger will be approved and finalized with SOC in hand prior to our Slot Swap even being heard in court.
Think about this for a second.
I live in the southwest United States and I fly Delta more often than not. I typically fly on RJ's either out of ATL or through ATL.
Now, SWA comes into town. 737's to everywhere I previously flew on an RJ. And, the frequent flyer awards to a free ticket are easier to attain.
What the eph do you do now if you are RA?
A 100 seat jet is starting to look more important now.
Plus, it is not going to be long that my pilots will be making more and more noise about their pay rates vis a vis SWA's as they see same or smaller a/c operationg out of the same market making signifcantly mo' dough.

Ladies and gentleman, you have been had! LUV just got a huge amount of access to EWR, LGA, BWI , MCO and ATL without the hint of gov't blocking. Kudos, well played. DAL will lose some O n D traffic out of ATL, as will CAL out of EWR. (see ua in DEN/ORD and AA in ORD) Not only does LUV steal passengers, they create new ones (as told to me by a former NWA exec, "the exec) Those downplaying the significance of this are not being realistic.

I can't guarantee a thing, but I would imagine we reach a deal with DOT on the slot swaps way ahead of any of this. The DOT has carried JetBlue's water (blue water...) as far as it can on this issue, but LUV taking AAI's slots in DCA and LGA just about guarantees that DOT can't take this any further. It didn't make any sense before, and it won't make any then.
When you consider that JetBlue's very, very well connected, and when you consider the fact that this merger reduces the number of LCC's, it's actually possible to see the slot swap being agreed to in a manner that makes JB happy, AND the Merger of Love put in question.
