Hey all,

Quick thread diversion here. Got my first DL CQ coming up. A while back I found a document that had the systems questions that they could ask. Now I cant find it. Anyone know where to look?

Thanks/Gnewt

Go to your Fleet page and then download the LOD. It is the Learning Objectives Document. (LOD)

This is what you are looking for.

Don't forget the walk around slides Gnewt, they're in the same place as the LOD.

Of course, that's once Deltanet returns, out again.

It is a wise move until the economy shows strong recovery. We are for the first time in a long time showing a "little" bit of pricing power. I would guess that it is the airline's desire to keep that. I know I want to see better numbers instead of growth that could hurt us in the long run.

Our number one investor who holds about 3% of the outstanding shares of stock was very vocal at the last shareholders meeting about capacity discipline. If we see stronger numbers they will add seats.

I think that seat discipline is very important. I know on the last earnings report conference call there were several folks wondering about it and RA was reassuring them with 2-3% increase.

I want the company to do well long term and if that means slower growth, that's ok!

It can and does. If you cannot wait, give you fleet training planner a call. If they have an idea of when you will go to training they will tell you.

This is not as easy of a process as some think. It is layered with the previous AE's as well as the new hires. With the current training backlog and the new hires they are trying to have it all mesh together.

It is spotty. I have noticed that if it does not work on Mozilla, I will try IE8 and I seem to get on. Every time it is down, I can still access DBMS though Easy bid, fwiw.

PBS Question

If I am awarded a REG line in November with carry-out into December, and am then awarded a RES line for December, how many days on/off will I have in December?

I seem to remember seeing a memo or code-a-phone about this awhile ago. Let's say I have a 5 day starting on the last day of November (with 4 days of the trip in December.) Will I only have 14 days of reserve (18 usual - 4 days of carry-in)?

What does it matter? I know three guys that were scheduled for October and just got it for the beginning of December. Just figure it will be in the next 9 months or so:)

Yup. Training is running way behind.

We will see if SkyTeam decides to put heavy lift on the DAL certificate or to put the biggest jets on other carriers in the SkyTeam.

Pros if the flying (777,744,etc) comes here: Big jets at the highest pay.

Cons: Lots of lifting capacity per crew which will equate to less pilots jobs overall. It would be Large WB jobs but as the AF/KLM deal states it is a formula used to compute the equality of lift, not block hrs. If they opt for DAL to do smaller point to point flying it will mean more pilot jobs but on smaller jets than the 777,744 and 380.

One 380 equates to about three 767 worth of lift.

Even if you put the "heavy lift" debate aside here's the hole in the ocean crossing fleet from a network standpoint:

(rounded to nearest)

757-2 170
767-3 180
767-4 240
330-2 240
777-E 270
777-L 280
330-3 300
747-4 400

The jump from the 7ER to the 767-400/A330-200 is huge at 50 seats that's why those planes shift around to "follow the sun"

but look at the jump from the 333 to the 744 that 100 seats

If a market supports about 350 sets/flight we have 2 choices:
leave 50 revenue pax behind in a 330 and loose that business opportunity
fly with 50 empty seats on the 744 and hope to make up the difference in belly cargo

we need a 350 seat aircraft to plug that hole

heck LH has A380 and A340-600 but they need the 747-8 to plug that hole in their fleet as they retire the 747-400.

777-300 will show up to plug the hole...
I'm guessing if we are increasing lift a similar number of 747-400 would be in order, especially as 747-400 are removed from the fleet to perform the seat mods...

Down the road the 787-9 will be a great aircraft and will let us retire some of the oldest 767-300ER...

Cheers

George, don't forget freight and the cargo volume and weight the aircraft can carry. The matrix is a complicated one I'm sure because the seat prices are not flat. A market that has high RASM warrants big planes, a low RASM means using an airplane 1 size too small. Add cargo, competition, seasonal issues, etc to the mix and a plethora of data then you know why the network guys are so critical to our success, and so busy.

Those guys will tell you what they want. They might scream for the 787, but they might be content with a lot of 717s or 777s in exchange for a late messy 787 program.

I think with this management team at the top, if they have good network people they trust, they'll get them what they want.

You get the usual number of days off if you will be on reserve the whole month.

The union was putting out the message that, if you had a carryover trip from a regular line to a reserve line (like you describe above) and your carry over trip touches x days, then you can call in and get those x days moved to later in the month.

Yeah I guess you can't get to the fleet page when its down. I was going to double check but I think all of the fleet pages have their walk around slides, right?

Anyways, don't breast feed the wrong baby like they did on The Office. With Pam.
