I actually liked having the ability to add up to 3 or subtract up to 2 pax without getting a new AWABS. Now.......what happens when the agent tells you a pax count, you push, then get the AWABS and the pax count does not jibe with what the agent told you? Happened to me on Thursday. Fortunately we were pretty full. Had the FA's count the empty seats and found the AWABS was correct.

I mean reviewing the green pages again?
Then color me "technically incorrect" (technicolor???). I did it that way all week. It makes sense, smooths out the process and seems to simplify things. I plan on continuing to do it (at least until my line check bust)

The whole point of the assumed flap setting is to get you do move out on the taxiway and not sit on the ramp or at the gate waiting for numbers. Just wait for the AWABS then do the performace checklist and then the taxi checklist. Repeat as necessary. We have gotten two AWABS and most after a taxi checklist, so we redo the performance, run the performance checklist and then the taxi checklist again. Easy Peasy.
Yes, you can plug everything in but according to Standards you can't run the checklist until after engine start while you are stopped. Running the CL requires the Captain to look at the AWABS and verify the entries. I agree that it would be more expeditious to run the CL at the gate if you have the AWABS.

This means that every single airplane must stop after every single push. Dumb, dumb, dumb if you have time to do it in the chocks.

No you can opt to run the performance checklist when you are stopped waiting for a taxi out clearance, money line, or holding short of a taxiway. The parking bake just needs to be on when the Captain is heads down verifying the numbers. Not rocket science.

I can't find it in writing that you cannot do the performance check while at the get if AWABS comes early. In fact, I thought the training video showed that as an option.

Just because some LCA says something, doesn't make it policy. They have to be able to back that up in writing. Does anyone know where it might be stated in writing?

Carl, they say that you can do the performance at the gate if it comes while parked. It was in the video. It just cannot delay pushback.

That's great. Then we can indeed do checklists "out of order." That makes more sense than what that LCA supposedly claimed.
