1. DALPA increased your 30% owership scope just for Midwest Airlines. Don't say it's all about management. Delta scope language is changing weekly. Deltas MEC has a voice at the table. 2. Do you really think NWA/Delta was going to let AirTran buy Midwest. NWA and Delta were in quiet talks before the Midwest purchase. Deltas CEO said, his first order of business after bankruptcy was to take on AirTran. DALPA can not wipe their finger prints off the Midwest deal. As others have said, you were a victim of your own management's incompetence and a victim of perhaps your own MEC's failure to put adequate protections in your own agreement with your airline. |

Yes we can. Our fingers were never in the room to touch the cookie jar and leave prints. When Delta merged with NWA certain agreements carried over. You seem to forget that NWA defends their turf tooth and nail. MKE is a great focus city for them. Why on earth do you think they wouldn't have gone for you and A. drive the purchase price for AAI higher or B. acquire majority stake and prevent AAI from coming in and bringing in a low cost carrier to drive yields down. Either way, you were in a precarious position. Following the credit debacle, high oil prices and falling economy, there was no way DAL vis-a-vis NWA could hope to retain their stake for a profit.

Delta wanted Airtran to merge with Midwest. Not only would have it given them an out to relieve pressure in ATL, but an Airtran preoccupied with digesting a merger would have made a soft target to take advantage of. |

Correct. We will just have to either given them MKE or kill 'em with tough competition. |

I have looked at all the scope sections on DALPA's contracts from 96. I can't find a single thing about 30 percent ownership. The buyout by TPG capital was approved 16 Aug 2007. Delta was not involved in any way shape or form in the buyout. They were also not involved with NWA at the time. They supplied no cash and DALPA made no changes in any scope section. I can't speak for what may have happened at NWA but your facts are very wrong. |
DALPA doesn't care about any other pilot group...They don't care about Midwest, and they didn't care about ASA or CMR....They only care about themselves....

Just like CMR's or United's or any other MEC should cares about their pilot group. Once again there is no connection between DALPA and Midwest deal at the time of transaction. |

As they absolutely should. DALPA cares about Delta pilots. That is it's only job!

Joe,
Sorry I don't see it that way. The union is set up so that individual MEC's are working with their managements to raise/hold the bar. If yours stopped doing that - recall them and stop blaming Delta. |
