Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
The surplus on the 88 is because some of the MD-90's that were planned on making it to the line will not make it to the line for summer 2011 flying. No more no less.

The 20 MD-88 surpluses in MSP might shake some things up a bit for some of the junior guys currently in training for their new ER/320 seats.
There are guys that bid MSP 88 when it first opened (Delta South guys looking to get into MSP & Delta North guys looking to get off the -9) that were then seat locked when all the MSP ER & 320 positions came available.
They will now be able to take a voluntary displacement into them being the bottom of the ER & 320 list's are so junior.

Keep in mind a voluntary displacement is only awarded if the pilot that would have been displaced can hold it. Add to that, with the positive movement elsewhere in this bid, I would be very surprised if anyone actually got displaced on this bid. The surpluses in those categories will be taken care of with pilots bidding up.

This is from (long term) memory. I believe if you are moving "up the food chain" so to speak (a larger a/c) on a voluntary displacement you use the seniority of the pilot whose displacement you are using. In other words if he can't hold it, you can't use his displacement to get it.

I think what Sailing is saying is there has been speculation on the 330 basing. If they do plan to shift 330 flying to ATL in the next AE, it's not likely they would post vacancies on this bid to a base that they were going to shrink in the near future.

I'm not so sure...

I can't see them bumping anyone off the 320 or ER anyway. They'd probably just be reinstated next bid if this thing is as huge as rumored.
75 new Captains positions on a small clean up bid is not bad at all. We used to consider a bid with 100 Captains positions huge. This will create quite a bit of movement. It also should put some of the DTW pilots at ease about the 330 time getting pulled out. Its not likely they would post a bid only to move the time 3 months later. If however I were SEA based I would be very worried.
If there is a shift in 330 flying to ATL, I've always thought most of the flying for the new category would come out of MSP and/or SEA with MSP being first on the chopping block. There is nothing earth shattering in this bid or showing what the company is thinking. I wouldn't put it beyond the companys thinking to then move time out of DTW too.
Heck, maybe they've decided not to move any 330 time on the next bid and are just covering additional flying!!!!

DAL stock down $1.05. So much for Richards gloating on CNBC today. Maybe time to buy?
From the AE bid out today:
"We expect this bid to put us in a solid position to support the scheduled 2011 summer flying. We plan to publish our next bid in the second quarter of 2011 to support the proposed fall 2011 flying. It will most likely be a 365 day bid and will include some changes to the A330 and A319/320 basing. We will let you know more as we get closer to that bid."
Comments???? 330's to LAX?? LOL. Bye bye 320 MSP...Hello ATL from what I heard in MSP last week.
Baja.
