UCAL also does not want the slot swap. With the limits on DCA looking like they will be changed, they do not want the competition on their IAD hub. Or so they say

Crude is bought and traded on margins. When, not if, interest rates are raised, the price of crude will drop significantly. I suspect we will see 100 dollar per bbl oil though summer and when the Fed Raises interest rates in the second half of the year, oil will trend downward. My guess is 60-72 per bbl. If I were a smart man I would not be hedging right now.
Man I hope you're right.

Hey it is what my investors are all telling me. Rates need to go up and the government wants to raise them. When they do margin buying becomes more expensive. Ergo, prices correct downward. Of course a event in the Middle East can always erase that effect.

I have not missed a commute yet. Yet being the key word. I'm on reserve so there are times when I have to non-rev up because all of the jumpseats are taken. I have missed my first flight due to loads being full. When this happens it is very nerve racking waiting to see if I'll get on the second flight. I've always been successful so far. If I call in and get positive space it seems to count as my one try even if the flight got every paying passenger on. This policy is better than what we had, but I'm afraid to use it. I had no problems using the Northwest policy as it was no questions asked.

Those comments by management regarding the new policy are empty veiled threats, reminiscent of Ron Allen flight ops management style.
If you were to call in honest many times following the letter of the new policy, they would have to raze the policy before disciplining you. They might threaten, but past that more serious action would result in a successful lawsuit and a anti management rallying point going into contract negotiations.

Did you really have to bring up poor snickers again?

Default Living the Dream!

Remind me why I love this job or is it I hate being Jr. ( and if anyone tells me commuting is a choice I will.....)

7 commutes
6 trips
73.45 hours of credit!!

I guess I should be celebrating 3:45 bonus!

Scheduler, "well looks like you broke the magic 70.00 hours at least you can take the rest of the month off!!!"

Me. " in the words of the virgin Mary, come again?"

Actual words, " yeah I will sure enjoy the last 23 hours of the month off."

Is it just me or is this a bad deal??

Where is Carl? I need his fatherly advice!

Carl, " look son, when you use the urinal don't eat the big mint! because scheduling will tell you it is a candy!"

You have your own investors. What exactly is it that you do for them to want to invest in you? Might be a good investment, can I get a prospectus?

Nice last sentence disclaimer. You mean like all the political unrest over there right now?

When looking at open time what is the difference between "actual" vs "qualified" open time.

Wow ... what aircraft/base are you on? I wan't to avoid that if I can. Reserve for me has been very, very quiet. No calls, no trips, earning my 70 doing nothing.
