Boomer,

I appreciate the conciliatory sentiment, but it took more than one person IMO to press forward with the RJDC and I also believe there were an awful lot of quiet supporters...IOW, it wasn't a one man show.

BTW, I also have a sense that he is probably correct about Comairs future. Good luck to you.

Why does the top of the orbiter look vaguely familiar?

Something about those curves...

OK, now I remember where I've seen that before:

I know, but he's the guy that everyone knows by name.

I'm guessing the whole RJDC thing must have reached a head before I got here, because I can honestly only count a half dozen times where a captain has mentioned the RJDC to me. I still don't know what the goal was.

Wow, that thing blasts off, orbits the earth at mach 20, comes screaming back in and lands in what looks like 5000ish feet according to that distance remaining sign. My hats off to the shuttle. :D

They touched down 2,100 feet down the runway at 195 knots, no they did not stop in 5,000 feet. They are towing it back to the OPF. They usually use up about 10,000 feet.

Are you certain? I thought I had heard that she was headed to the Smithsonian, Atlantis to Dayton, and there was still speculation on Endeavour

They landed her in 400 feet once using JATO bottles and a soccer field.

They had to get a DC-9 captain to pull that one off.

If Discovery goes to Smithsonian, maybe Enterprise goes somewhere else?

I thought the -9 Captain was the one who flew her back out?
