Ferd and Buzz are the brothers who always fought during their childhood. Then, Ferd became a fighter pilot while Buzz was relegated to hauling rubber dog **** out of Hong Kong (which, by the way, is an incredibly great gig, but, shhhh, don't tell Ferd). Like brothers do, Buzz, the elder but not the smarter, is apologizing to brother Ferd through diplomatic channels. Hopefully, Ferd, being the statesman that he is, will accept the olive branch and allow Buzz to once again gain access to the insane beer and brothels of Ferd's present reality.

The moral of the story is this: in the end, its not worth a flying conudle what's happening in Wisconsin (although it is the home of Buzz's beloved Packers and that, in and of itself, is worth mentioning). What really matters is how warring brothers from different tribes adopt the same head dress and woolen garments and, concurrently, are willing to undergo "best practices" to launch aluminum cylinders into the spaces shouting "widget" as they go. THAT's what matters most. Especially, when "scheduling calls."

Alas, but what are we? We are Devo. Oopps, no, that's a different line. Sorry. Ferd, my brother in aluminum, I apologize. I was trying to put NERD in the cross hairs and I missed...No, that's not right either. NERD, I apologize to you as well.

Seriously, I was simply trying to make a point about unions, public v. private. I'm sorry guys. Sometimes my inner Ann Coulter festers like a bed bug at the Roosevelt. Apologies are also in order to New...but you still owe me a beer.

More Delta airline chitchat please! ;) This thread is Google's answer for 98% of every airline question I ask it, but it's getting so I have to wade through 20 posts of political discussion for each post on Delta! Ok, I admit, I read most of them, but find myself vigorously for both sides and still wondering what daily life is like out there on the line.
Interesting posts on DC-9 numbers vs. MD-90s, good charts as always, but what's it all mean for the next AE?
Crew Resources confirmed receipt of my long MLOA return package today, and told me "We're going over your package" (which didn't sound healthy), and that the mil Liason would review it (JM, who I've talked to before and felt solid about), and they they'd contact me with a class date. Until I hear back from them that my 4 year MLOA return after 5.5 years furlough is "approved", I'm pretty nervous... Anyone ever heard of a MLOA return getting hassled/rejected? I'm solid reserve orders for the whole time except 2 weeks leave/vacation a year and a few weekends without duty here and there. Grrr... the waiting sux!

There are a couple of legal reasons why I didn't quote Ferd's calling the Governor a thug, but for legal reasons, I will save that for a PM tomorrow.

As far as the name-calling, it seems as though you really push some buttons when you call people "Ed Shultz watchers," or "Rachael Maddow kind of guys." Personally, it doesn't bother me at all. I watch all the news stations and love seeing how different sides present the same story. But, you have to admit that who someone watches on cable news is not really a valid argument to anything of substance. Furthermore, calling members of a teachers union, "thugs" is probably not well received by anyone who intimately knows a teacher, or two.

To be honest with you, what probably brought Ferd out of the woodworks was all the people who said that teachers are overpaid. I don't think you did that. But, for the record, people who know teachers, know they are not overpaid. After 40 plus years with the Chicago Public Schools, 3 masters degrees and a doctorate degree, my mother retired making less than $70,000 per year (that's with teaching in the summer). For what she did, she deserved a lot more than that. My father probably made about the same, if not less.

I saw your arguments, and responded to your initial ones pages and pages ago. I think we can keep this discussion above the fray. But, to do so we have to realize that; 1.) the opposition is not an enemy, 2.) the opposition is not necessarily an idiot, and 3.) We are all just people who have different views.

From a perspective adjustment standpoint, I think the most beneficial trip I had in life was my first 12 day trip on the DC-10. I DH'ed to Narita without the Captain and the second officer for some reason, so I didn't meet them until we got on the bus. After the wx planning and preflight, off we went, on our way to Singapore. I could still see Tokyo out of my window when the captain leaned over towards me and said, "So, who you got in the election?" I mean I think we had barely gotten out of 14,000 feet and all I could do is think of how long this 12 day trip was about to become.

I answered his question, and I promise you, anytime we were inflight and above FLwhateverthtransitionlevelwas, we talked politics and presidential elections, for the entire 12 day's. It was the most fun I've had while flying and it only took me a few hours or so to realize that politics didn't have to be so personal. Now,when I see that captain, we cheese it up and are the best of friends. I hope you get a trip like that at least once in your career.

In my opinion, some of you guys let your politics shape your entire world and its distorts your perspective. "Your side" isn't wrong about everything and "my side" isn't right about everything.

If we start from that viewpoint, I'm sure keeping the discussion above the fray will be easy.

As far as AE rumors go, I've figured out that whenever you hear someone say the next bid is going to be the MOAB, that means the big bid will be the one after the next. In other words, the MOAB is always two bids away.

If you were on active duty the entire time you have nothing to worry about. If however you were in a drilling reserve status part of the time there could be issues since normally the does not qualify for long term military leave. Since your time was 4.4 years your solid as a rock if it was all active duty. If you reverted back to normal reserve status in that time period and were drilling and do active duty now and then you might have issues however I don't really think they check that hard.

When someone buys a ticket on Southwest.com, they know they are getting a ticket on Southwest. That's admirable. When a passenger buys a ticket on Delta.com, who knows who they're buying a ticket on. The chances that all of their flights are on Delta is very slim. That's not admirable. We don't belong on the list. The fact that management is still outsourcing jets shows me that they think outsourcing everything is the wave of the future.
