Evil google.

It looks as if they'll still have anti-trust folks all over them, unless they pay them off but the EU probably won't be paid off.

Google Said to Be Possible Target of Antitrust Probe by FTC After ITA Deal - Bloomberg

Trying to find something on FT.com, my favorite newspaper on any west bound ocean crossing.

Good Point. As for arrogance towards reporters, you have to admit that some/most of their questions are truly inane.

The key reason however is to provide a better quality of life for reserve pilots. It certainly would be possible to set up a move up system like the flight attendants have that could run the day prior and even same day as trips drop into open time. It will however result in absolute crap for reserve pilots in terms of trip quality. Every change in how we assign trips has ramifications that are different for each seniority segment. I don't ever plan on being on reserve again but don't mind granting this benefit to reserve pilots.
I agree that you have the rationale figured out.

However, let's consider that the current system doesn't respect seniority in determining which Reserve pilot gets what trip, once it's steered their way, so this doesn't make their life predictably better. IOW, the coverage violates seniority for the Regular pilots, then it violates it again wihtin the available Resrve pilot group.

I think I would be more comfortable if the Reserve piltos had a better system for allowing people to get (or decline) the available flying IAW their seniority, had a better system for distributing SC's, had a ultra-LC option, rewarded people for greater availability, and didn't submit them to the insult of sitting next to nother person getting paid more credit for the very same rotation.

Assuming this could be set in place, then you could give Regular pilots access to the available open time, to improve their lot.

Steering better trips to junior pilots so that Reserve is bearable is a band-aid on a concessionary Reserve system, and is punitive to the senior guys. Two wrongs failing to make a right.

Xray, I was there in the ATL lounge too. TC from DPA was very professional, ALPA reps were not. I am now wearing a DPA lanyard in support of DPA and suggest to others, that they go to the DPA website and review the content.

Yeah the DPA will not be in place for contract 2012, but a very strong message is being sent to ALPA.

Hopefully, the 3000 present DPA members will attend the LEC meetings and can affect changes in our present ALPA.

Better check those numbers. You're off by about a 1000. And since you're a strong supporter now, which base did you sign up to be the "Base Representative" for? With 2,000+ guys, and only 2 willing to actually do any work, it seems they've picked up all the keyboard warriors, but not much else.

Thanks.

Moon,

Just pick any past rotation, doesn't matter (per CPSC). I just did this for some passport expenses, I had to go back to my last rotation in January.

I was down there off and on most of the week as I was flying in and out of ATL. I did see the DPA guys doing a very nice job of keeping it professional. What I did not see was the ATL reps, and other FO reps from the other bases being unprofessional. If you are a C44 pilot call them up and tell them what you did not like. If you are another base, tell them as well. I think there was a SLC, and LAX rep there as well.

ALPA and their representatives need to listen to you the line pilot. That is what this is all about. Give them the necessary input.

Oh and BTW, DPA as a grassroots movement in ALPA would be very powerful. Getting pilots engaged is what it is about, and if DPA can do that, great. We need ALL pilots engaged in the process. Apathy is no excuse, and if DPA can change that and then effect change at the LEC level, I am all for the pilots getting their voices heard.

Default Air France to serve San Francisco with A380

Air France to serve San Francisco with A380

Air France to serve San Francisco with A380 - Business Traveller

The French flag carrier will join Lufthansa as the second airline to operate A380 flights to San Francisco, with a daily service over the summer period.
The carrier will offer daily A380 flights between Paris CDG and the Californian city from June 6 until September 4, departing Paris at 1030 and arriving at 1240. The return leg leaves San Francisco at 1610, landing back into the French capital at 1135 the next day.
Business Traveller understands Air France may make this new superjumbo service possible by redeploying its A380 aircraft operating on the Paris CDG-Tokyo route, as a result of the fall in demand for flights to Japan following the country’s earthquake and tsunami.
Lufthansa is set to become the first carrier to fly the A380 to San Francisco next month, with a daily service (replacing the current B747-400 on the route) starting on May 10 – see online news January 27 for more information.

Question for the PMNW hires in the '07-'08 timeframe. I've been carrying a -15 bank apparently that is just now being repaid out of my paychecks. I didn't notice it before as I was a reserve guy until recently and never broke min guarantee. Payroll says it was carried over from before the payroll dept switchover in Jan 2010. No one down in ATL knows what it's about, but I know I haven't messed with my bank. I would hardly even know how to. Is this a NWism that I've forgotten about? Something comes to mind about 15 hrs of pay as a new hire, but there was a lot going on then. Thanks for any light you can shed on this. PM me if you like.

That's actually an example of the JV working, without hurting us, for a change. We're not dropping a route for this to happen, we don't really have a competitive product to offer against LH's A380 anyway... so why not? Maybe it keeps people going for Skyteam miles, and maybe those people need to go to Japan using our flights at some other time.
