I will shut up if they open this to reserves without regard to days of availability.. the old style yellow slips. Other than that, I am gonna make a lot of noise about this, because it is a hose job.

Oh, and I fyp above :)

And lastly, if you give up your KBP trip for MUC, I am going to personally remove your he-man membership.

If a trip is on the swap board as a pickup, I'm guessing that there are not enough reserves available. If a guy sitting SC can pick up the trip, who's going to cover that last-minute sick call? We have SC guys for a reason--

And lastly, KBP is way overrated. Sometimes a guy has to turn his back on the crummy Ukrainian beer and emaciated Kiev women, and go for good beer and healthy German women. :)

(That being said, I probably won't be able to hold KBP trips this summer!)

They should've given Osama comcrete shoes and let him go from the USS New York. :D

Works on so many levels.

Which is precisely my point that this is a reserve issue. This proposal is a bait and switch from the real problem here. Sure.. it frees up line holders from the shackles of capped reserve days, but does NOTHING for those reserve pilots. It will create stagnation there. When the math is done.. it is bad for reserves, regardless. There are only 7 days where available exceeds required for this month (I know this is a floating target, but I'll bet it won't change much). THIS is the problem that need to be addressed. All this proposal does is shift the coverage from one base to another.

One guy in my crashpad last month was sitting SC and 4 GSs went out. Somebody please 'splain that one to me. He WANTED to fly... So why couldn't he have YS'd one of those trips? I realize that I am talking about two subjects here simultaneously, but the issue is the same.. it is the reserve system. period.

I won't be able to hold KBP again for 10 years... (unless I get displaced)

so waaaaaaaaaaaaaah :D

OK, this got lost with the great news that Osama is toast......

This is the link to the Chuck Yeygur Online Pilot School. I think all of APCers are graduates of this academy....

I more or less have flown reserve for the last 2.5 years and I have never been over 70 on any month I was on reserve. I understand different fleets have different staffing levels but that is what I am trying to show. Some groups have high average flight times monthly including reservist others don't and the reserves don't hardly ever break 70.

Yep, the reserve pilots on the 777, 744, and generally the 765 and 330 get paid not to work. What I describe is more true for the narrow body and 7ER fleets.

I wished they would have wrapped him in bacon before the dumped his body in the sea. Why in the world would we observe Islamic religious niceties? Wrap them in pigskin and bury them three days later facing away from Mecca.

Agreed!

Look at it this way, at the bottom of the Ocean, he is much closer to Hell than anywhere else!
