Any pilot that posts a trip on the swap board as a P/U presently does so with full knowlege that his/her line will be reduced by that amount. A reserve pilot would not get this trip regardless. If nobody picks up that "crap trip that nobody wants" then the pilot who was originally assigned that trip is still on the hook to fly that trip.
