Some say half empty, some say half full. I figure the glass is too big:rolleyes:

Destin, Fl is a great spot. Will be crowded though.:)

100% with JABDIP. I've gone a lot of places in the Caribbean thanks to corporate flying and I think that the panhandle beats all in so many respects. I'd say its the beaches you'd expect in the Caribbean but just south of the great state of Alabama.

But personally, go around the Seaside area. We vacation in Santa Rosa beach, nice houses run about $1200 a week but if you go in mid to late August a lot of those drop to under $700 a week. It's about a 20-30 minute drive to the heart of Destin where if you need something they have it. Another 10-15 min lands you in Seaside which is neat to see.

The beaches are not nearly as crowded thanks to the $2-$4M homes on the beach there, the sand is fantastic (no rocks), the water has no seaweed or jellfish and it is clear to the point you can take a fish net and catch these little white fish running around the bottom. Give me about a minute and I'll catch some with a $2 net. It's easy.

Look up VRBO, we stay at a place in Old Florida Village in Santa Rosa, it's a start. The drive is about 7 hours. We launched out earlier this month at 3am and that worked out well for us. :D We also drove up through the center of Alabama on the way back, don't do that... unless you would like to make a stop at the home of the National Champion Auburn Tigers!
Otherwise, stick with going through CSG, Eufaula, DTH, I10 and then to Santa Rosa area. Otherwise if you do Destin I'd consider the I65-I85 route.

Don't forget, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8:30am the blue angeles practice. I've never gone there as its an 1:45 drive from where we stay but I'd like to show the kids one day.

Garrett 731's ... yeeach! Noisy cramped little thing.

How about this?

Here is one for sale, just about perfect IMO.

You know they come out of the ground every 12 years, but I just cleaned my windshield and within 10 minutes, I've got alcaidas (sp?) splattered all over it.:)

I'll take one of these. That just looks fun. When I think of a MU-2, I think of those cargo outfits that dive off the end of the runway in ATL.

HA! Probably is cramped. As to the 208... death trap... in ice. Well, the new ones have TKS, that's huge actually.

I thought flying a 208 would be like a big fun 172, it's not. It's too underpowered and the wing is too fat and the side too large to where even a 10 kt crosswind requires way too much correction. It's just not very... Beechcraft like. Think MD88 stretched another 30' with the same wing and tail.

But, there is a 950hp Garrett version now! So overdue. :D

1,000 passengers? From a revenue standpoint is it worth it? That's a lot of seats to sell.

You must have been flying the "Grand Caravan." The short one is a better personal airplane.

In defense of my MU-2 :D in the eyes of the overnight freight operations the airplane is cheap to buy and operate and it offers a lot of performance and you didn't even have to train your pilots to fly what seemingly amounts to be a half pint Brasilia.

Amazing how that idea could go so wrong so fast?

Now there is a quasi-type like training required. Therefore, my MU-2 can now rid itself of the under qualified pilots of the world and take back its rightful place as the ear splitting speed demon. AOPA says it idles at 76% power. O-U-C-H. But surprisingly roomy and quiet on the inside, I'll take that.

That's my defense.
