Come down to Perdido Key. Quiet, Family friendly, stunning white beaches. Not crowded at all. I'd stay away from Destin, because of the crowds. Perdido Key is near Pensacola. I have a place on the beach if you need a place to stay...airline rates of course.

Honestly, I don't think that it'll go to arbitration. Arbitration still leaves too many unknowns for the group as a whole like 717 pay rates, bidding between aircraft, seniority issues with aircraft that are retired/sold/etc.

Upgrades are going pretty well at the moment. July shows plus 60 captain slots. The stagnation is pretty much over with the airplanes that are being delivered to SWA (both SWA orders and AirTrans orders going to SWA operations). School house is busy hiring another 180 plus guys to be on the line by this fall.

And yes, I do appreciate the fact that you Delta guys are concerned for me, but I seriously doubt that I'd be moved back to the right seat post-agreement unless we merge with super-cool major airlines like Delta that have all of your benefits on them (like ALPA policy). Maybe we could just all organize under SWAPA so that management would have to recognize scope protection.

Oh my, it seems I've worn out my welcome. Please invoke my name over here occasionally so that I feel invited in again.

Some tough LUV headed your way. Incoming!!!!!!! :D

Why are you comparing an M88 to SWA 737 rates? How about 73 vs 73 to begin the argument.
SWA has never lead the industry in any monetary capacity for crew! They have always been one step behind the legacy carriers and when said legacy carriers gave concessions SWA did not. That alone put them ahead on pay rates not any strategic negotiating by SWAPA! The only thing I would have ever wanted in their contracts and the current one included is the SCOPE section.

Because the type of flying SWA does with their 737's is more comparable to the type of flying we do with our MD-88/90's. Our 737's do a fair amount of international flying, which SWA does not do. And, again, if you look at what the SWA pilots actually make (look at W-2, not pay rates) and the fact that they haven't had any huge pay increases since we took our pay cuts, it appears they never were all that far behind us.

What is it you don't like with their contract? The average SWA Captain makes over $230K and averages working about 12 days per month to do it. What's not to like? I don't mind working hard while I'm at work. And I can certainly live with $100K more pay and 18 days off per month!

But don't get me wrong. My only point in bringing this up is to show just how far we need to go to get back to an appropriate level of compensation. This contract comparison ALPA's coming out with better make a strong case for this. Unfortunately, I fear it will be more of the "look how good we're doing" and "we can't expect all that much" crap we've been getting.

Check out Wilmington, NC. Nice beaches and not super expensive. I'd drive it. Easy drive and then you'll have a car when you get there. We've gotten a beach house there with friends a few times and it's pretty nice.

Wilmington is a good place. The only downside is the commute suxs! The drive from ATL is only 6-7 hours. If you want any gouge as what to do, drop me a PM.

If you're looking into that part of the world, check out Oak Island, just south of Wilmington. It's very laid back, hardly touristy with nice beaches. I'd stay away from Carolina Beach unless you want to hang with redneck day trippers.

Thanks!!

Thanks everyone who replied to the "beach idea"!!! we should start a thread with trip report ideas for those with interline privileges/discounts. too many of these trip advisor sites have insiders pumping their properties with testimonials...they will never find the real gouge here!

we could keep it hidden on this thread...just use trip report for easy searching??

ok, back to contract 2012 stuff!

Ok, I'm thinking this is why we pay RAH to work DCI flight that compete directly with themselves. Frontier is slashing fares to try and keep passengers. I'm guessing that even though we are paying them to operate an E145 as DCI the fare war plus passengers lost is more then they can recover from the FFD flying.

Kind of entertaining to watch all in inbreeding that goes on in this industry. Compass starts MCI-LAX next month to compete with frontier. I say they just go ahead and throw a republic e175 on that one too.
