This actually existed for a short while. Buck being a play on the guy's last name Buckingham. It also happens to rhyme with, er, well you get the idea. I stayed in his crashpad for a few years in SDF. Helluva nice guy and obviously an enterprising individual.

I think it was an Aztec though. He had mousepads, koozies (sp?), t-shirts and other gear for sale, all with "Buck in the Air" printed on them. I think he only had one or two couples actually purchase the "mile high" package, but it was definitely one of the more creative ways I've heard of to build multi time. :D

Sidenote: we nearly ran into legal trouble in LAS partly because of Buck on a bachelor party, but that's a story for another time. . . .

How long do you figure that it would take DPA to get up and running and actually have a contract opening position?

People have been using this "Section 6 is about to begin" argument for over a year now. It's about 8 months away and was 20 months away when the DPA thread started. What constitutes "right around the corner"? When will there be a right time for you? After this next contract is signed, will you still view Section 6 as right around the corner?

Sadly, I don't think the DPA will quite have enough cards by this Section 6. If my prediction of an extremely weak opener from DALPA is correct, DPA will be a shoe-in but it will be too late to change a terribly weak outcome.

How come the DPA 3000 strong haven't run up a recall resolution at every single base and installed their own people in every LEC in order to force change?

Surely if you are "involved" enough to send in a card then you are willing to take an extra day out of your life to actually show up at a LEC meeting to make sure your platform will be implemented.

LEC meeting turnout is traditionally very weak, and if there are as many "fencers" out there as are claimed, I'm sure that you could eject the current leadership and give the pilots of delta the leadership of "DPA proponents"......

Start walking the walk of your ideals of "bettering the lives of Delta Pilots", or just stop talking already.

Pardon the interruption however I think this is faster than me searching the contract.

Finishing a trip today and I go into golden days tomorrow. We have mx and now they have us dhding tomorrow which is also my 7th day. If I deviate from my dhd today do I still get paid as though I'm working tomorrow or is my PB day that they're giving me stay on my schedule?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

TK

Sailing...great post! I corrected and edited some of your post...please forgive me, but I know this is what you really meant!!

Maybe I'll start doing my own version of this:

"Ladies and gentleman, you'll be relieved to know that I have accumulated many thousands of flight hours flying between such airports as SBN, AZO, MKE, etc. I have flown many light piston aircraft, hold type ratings in various Regional Jets, and am a Gold Seal CFII/MEI . . . . . . "

The only people who think pilots are cool are little kids and other pilots

No disrespect meant to our military pilots/vets. I just find the self-congratulating PA's a little nauseating.

I think the whole thing was a joke.. Greg Bambo used to tell everyone how many flight hours he and his FO had, and then he proceeded to give the entire plane a play by play tour of the countryside. Actually he was a very neat guy. Lots of great stories about him, but all the FOs that I ever met said you were single piloted from the time the gear hit the wells until the handle went down...

Were you the guy at Lunken with Flamingo Air?

He had a flier up in the original terminal there when I lived around there 3 years ago. I thought about asking him for a job to supplement my FO pay

Well there's your mistake. You're trying to use pay rates and are comparing apples and oranges. The average SWA Captain makes over $230k/year. Let's just use an even $230k for comparison. So what did an MD-88 Captain (the closest we have to the kind of flying SWA does) make in 2004 (C2K rates) prior to our pay cuts? Well, the rate was $237.37/hour. At 75 hours per month, that Captain made $213,633 for the year. Adjust that for inflation (source: Tom's Inflation Calculator) and you get $252,803.18 today. It would require no more than a 10% pay increase for SWA Captains to be making our C2K + inflation for the same type of flying. I wouldn't call that "a country mile", but I guess you can if you want to.

Nice. Hadn't seen that one before. If you click on "About Flamingo Air" it pops up a picture of a guy with an uncanny resemblance to Joe Paterno in a pilot uniform.

I almost wish I could put that on my resume. Yes ma'am I once was a "VERY DISCREET PILOT" for Flamingo Air :p

Carl, DPA posted on their website that it was critical that they have enough cards to call for a election by 1 Jan 11 in order to be in place on the property by the start of summer and build a war chest and infrastructure to properly represent the pilots in the coming negotiations. When they failed in that goal they simply deleted it from the website. Was it critical or not? Were they lying then or lying now?
