Anyone catch this nugget from the DOT slot swap approval?

"Slot pairs would be sold in bundles large enough to ensure that a purchaser would have a sufficient number of slots to provide meaningful new competition. In addition, Delta and US Airways would be required to wait 90 days before beginning their new operations on a phased-in basis, in order to allow the new services to establish a foothold at the airports."
Question ... has Southwest ever been asked to give up, anything?

Wondering myself if Southwest will be able to finagle a few more slots out of this deal in the end. That would clearly be against ongoing anti-trust violation concerns, but nothing would surprise me.

Anyone else want to venture a guess as to who will be the winner of said divested slots?

I'm think Spirit may grasp a few.

Spirit and VX, IMO.

The DOT and other airlines involvement in the slot swap is disgusting.

On many occasions they are asked to give up being number 2 or 3 for the approach and cleared hot for the numbers while everyone else gets vectors. Many times they are asked to sacrifice their place in line behind someone else on departure who gets vectors to provide them with the opportunity to sacrifice yet again by being force fed an expeditious departure. Sometimes they even have to suck it up and taxi as fast as they can both to and from the gate while other ground traffic is held in position.

"Hello!" I say.

Scheduler says "Yeah we got you on rotation **** signing in at 10:10"

"Well its 10:20!" I say

"Yeah so were are you?" - Scheduler

"Umm no one called me this morning" - Me

"Yeah it says here it was placed on your line at 0500 and acknowledged."

"Hmm that's weird because I was asleep and there's no incoming calls at all today"

"So when can you show up?"

Gotta love it!

I think I'm up to 3 or 4 no calls on short call for trips. Every time I've noticed the trip before SC began and all cases it was a trip that showed with < 2 hours to go. On those I just get ready and leave even before I'm called and wait for a call so that I can talk to the scheduler and tell them where I am (I'm an hour from the airport btw) but I'll get to the airport without having got a call and had I never checked and waited at home there was no way I'd make go.

Hey FTB,

Doesn't that enable scheduler's bad behavior ? Kind of like when I had overdraft protection on my kid's checking accounts. :D

No disrespect,

A SWA crew had to follow us out of MSY last week. We were taxiing to 19, so they asked for 28. After being denied 28 they were told to follow us & for some reason we slowed waaaaaaaay down. Must be a natural reaction to them barreling towards us. :p :D
