"Terry Erskine, a consultant and retired labor negotiator for Delta Air Lines Inc., acknowledges that pilots are frustrated. But he thinks they haven't tempered their expectations sufficiently. "It hasn't sunk in yet that it's a forever-changed industry," he says."

Isn't he the guy that negotiated C2K from the management side? We could use more that understand our value like he did!

Just saying...:D

I guess Southwest hasn't gotten the message yet! Thanks Terry for the wake up call! I'll just tell my family to "temper their expectations sufficiently". I wonder how he's enjoying all the cash he bailed with from
Delta? Hey Terry.... F#%! YOU!!!

Perhaps the company should think about tempering their expectations from the pilot group... No buck.... No Buck Rogers.

I think he is on this board, just with a name like an Italian car or something....:D

I am sure some of you remember where Terry Erskine worked prior to joining Delta.

Is Terry talking about the new bag fees and fuel surcharges?

Umm, what are the former FedEx and SWA consultants and retired labor negotiators telling the WSJ? Nothing like Terry. I know from experience, a few "placed" op-eds from management or publishers can signal future positions. I really hope this isn't DAL management trying to proactively head off our expectations.

"No buck, no Buck Rogers seems about right to me." There wouldn't be an NFL without football players, there wouldn't be an MLB without baseball players...imagine an airline without pilots?

I like it, but as your movie homie I need to make one small correction........

Gordon Cooper: You boys know what makes this bird go up? FUNDING makes this bird go up.
Gus Grissom: He's right. No bucks, no Buck Rogers.

Elvis90 08-08-2011 02:19 AM

No Buck, no Buck Rogers

Gus Grissom: The issue here is monkey.

John Glenn: What?

Gus Grissom: Us. We are the monkey.

Deke Slayton: What Gus is saying is that were missing the point.
What Gus is saying is that we all heard the rumors that they want
to send a monkey up first. Well, none of us wants to think that
theyre gonna send a monkey up to do a mans work. But what Gus is
saying is that what they're trying to do to us is send a man up to
do a monkeys work. Us, a bunch of college-trained chimpanzees!

Gus Grissom: Fu#€in A, bubba.

Deke Slayton: Alright, so what Gus is saying is that we've got to
change things around here. He's saying that we are pilots. And we
know more about what we need to fly this thing than anybody else.
So what we have to do is to alter the experiment. And what that
comes down to is who is gonna control this thing from here on out.

Gordon Cooper: What Gus is saying here is that weve got to stick
together on this deal.
