(day 46 since my last flight, reserve is cool!)

I agree, but only if you live in base. I'm not going to know what to do when next summer's flying picks up again.

Neither is my wife. My to-do list is a mile long. I'm thinking of getting a vasectomy just so I can have a day off at home too

Me too, but he's current and probably going to be of more help.

The APU on my current airplane looks like a feline with it's tail up. I believe FTB had a side by side comparison awhile back. THAT made me spit rum on the screen. :p

He said, "Sick...next week? How do you know now, for a trip next week?"

Me, "Because I've got a Vasectomy scheduled the day beore the trip."

Him, "Ouch! Ok , no problem, take as much time as you need."

My next call was to the Chief Pilot. I told him I had just called in sick for the trip next week, and why. He said, "No problem, it usually takes about 3-4 days to recover, then you should be good to go."

I said, "I don't feel too good right now, just thinking about it, I might have to call in sick for tomorrow's trip!" He just laughed and said, "What ever it takes, come back when you feel better."

After the operation my Doctor said, "No heavy lifting for at least a week." I took that to mean, do not lift a 150,000lb. 727 off the ground for at least a week, so I sicked out of another trip, just to be sure.

I did feel like a horse had kicked me in the nutz for about a week afterwards, glad I was on the couch, not in a cockpit. By about 6 weeks later, it was functioning normally.

Sat on the couch with a frozen bag of peas the rest of the day when I had mine. Went golfing the next day. Didn't hurt that much. I love golf.

Random question here. Has anyone on here gotten a vasectomy? And how long was the recovery before flying? My Dr said 3 days but that seems optimistic to me.

Well, do EXACTLY what the Doc tells you to do and do not rush back. Frozen bags of peas and corn are the best in my experience. If you rush back, you may have the cantaloupe syndrom.

Why I don't mind watching the news outside of the US:

I have no idea what language she was speaking, but from what I can gather, the news story had something to do with the deepening rift between the world's two great superpowers.
