I had a captain a few days ago greet the passengers as they were deplaning. Problem was he was still wearing his baseball cap. What's with guys wearing ball caps while flying in a shirt and tie? The guy looked like an idiot when he didn't take it off in passenger view.

Every guy I've flown with that wear a ball cap are bald or almost there. No biggie.

It is quite unprofessional to wear it in front of the pax, though.

You mean the Delta Air Lines pilots gave them permission? I really don't understand what all the complaining about the chief pilots calling is about. If you are sick or call in sick, that is that. Let them call, is there any reason that you have to answer the phone. If they leave a message, is there any actual requirement to return their call? I don't think there is. What are they going to do to me if I don't return their call? They have a job to do and are just following their marching orders and I am sure that some may have a "short man's" syndrome while I am sure that there are others that make the call so that they can "check a box and move on".

It sure would be interesting to see all of the actual data relating to sick calls. I believe that the current system is designed poorly and since it is a "cost item" in contract negotiations, it has the appearance of a use it or lose it "benefit". I understand the mindset of since had to give something up in order to get the sick leave policy/benefit that we currently have, why shouldn't I be able to use it as needed just like vacation.

With that said, I have only had to call in sick two times in my tenure at NWA/DAL, however, I have been sick much more than those two. Unfortunately for me, I was on days off when I was sick the other times. My fear is that this calling from the chief pilots is some of the (I hate to say) NWA culture between management and everyone else and the mistrust, animosity and distrust of the pilot group.

If you must answer, just say, hello, this is a recorded line, what can I do for you? I'm sure the call will be short and polite after that.

So, when is it cool to tell the fDAL guys "we told you so"?

The real question is "what can we do about it?" Sure you put up with the same crap...but you put up with it. So, how do we stop this from happening?

With this new JV for MTO with AeroMexico I wonder if their contract is good at protecting outsourcing. Seems to me it opens the door to move a lot of maintenance down to Mexico. Cheaper than the US, and not as far to go as China. Did the maintenance guys vote in a union or go independent?

I'm waiting until we get management's contract opener.

Record the calls, gather data, and file a grievance if there is a violation.
