Quote: Any CAL guys around? I remember they were doing a EWR-somewhere in Latin America and flew a 3 man crew on the 737 so that they could do a 2 leg 8+ hour trip.
NWA did this on the 320 down to Mexico/Carribean. I did a few of these and once got to hang with two 60+ guys. They talked about melanoma, grandkids, etc. Unfortunately neither of them talked about retirement.
Quote: It made it to brazil, but couldn't carry a full load. It was typically restricted to 100-110 pax.
Well if they wanted to get the job done right, they should've sent the 88.

OH YEAH I SAID IT!!

Quote: 700 was going to Manaus Brazil. Depends on your definition of deep. I think Brazil requires both pilots to be pic type rated. I know the 800 didn't type both pilots until we planned on doing those routes (2007 time frame). Also, there was a lot of talk during that time of Boston to western Europe on the 700. Ex. Bos-Shannon.
Bingo,

I forgot about Shannon, that was in the works as well.

Slow, I sat in the Fleet Managers office and he told me that's why FOs were being typed...thats what he said.

Maybe you ought to call PR and ask him, he's now in the 73 training dept. after AK took over the pilot hiring again.

Cheers
George
Quote: I also think during this time frame they were considering breaking up the carribean club with 2 type rated FOs and one capt., instead of two complete crews (one enjoying dinner and a movie deadheading back). I guess those will go away and require just two pilots with the new FTDT rules.
Why would they go away with the new rules. The requirement is contractual not FAR. Current FAR's require 1 CA and 2 FO's. Contractually Delta is required to double crew those flights.
I love capped reserve days.......That is all.
Quote: Were the planes going to be modified? The 737-700 can't get to deep SA, much less an 800.
The 700 has a range of over 3200 NM....Atlanta to Lima is right at 3000, thats pretty deep SA.
Quick question, don't we get 6 golden days a month? Just checked my September schedule and it only has 5. I do have recurrent sims does that have anything to do with it? Thanks.

I could be wrong but I think you only get 5 golden days in a 30 day bid period when you have sim. I assume you have a 3 day block for sim?

Look at page 4 or 5 in the bid pack. That shows the table for X days, golden days, days available to work, etc.
