It's much more catchy and memorable with a hot chick holding up a sign that says something like, "Bid Fools!"

Do you have anything like that in your inventory?

Not even if you paid me.

Ha! Never.

In fact, I say that to myself on the 12th every month, to ensure I get another reserve line, fly Th-Su, with a 30 hour Williamsburg layover.

:(

I like the PHF layover because I go home, but why in the heck they go to Williamsburg over a 5 minute drive across the interstate to the Patrick Henry mall and associated areas is beyond me.

When I grew up in the area I used to think Williamsburg is the wealthy area because where I live certainly isn't it, my side was poor and run down. So one day as a teenager I drove around just to see what was there, I wasn't impressed at all. It's not nice outside of the colonial part and you've got to be in the mood for that.

I think across the interstate is where ASA and AirTran stay. I've noticed lately several overnights are far from anything. Very regional like. Especially BUF, FNT and DAY.

That PHF layover is one of the worst in the system. I too have wondered why we pass up a nice, close mall area with tons of eating options and drive 30 minutes away to put us basically in the middle of nowhere with practically no eating options.

I wish I had a trip to PHF recently to just write it up.

The funny thing is,

10. A pilot scheduled for a layover of more than 12 hours (block-to-block) will receive
lodging at a downtown hotel.
Exception one: Such lodging may be provided at a hotel in the vicinity of the airport if
the MEC Hotel Committee has approved the use of such hotel in connection with the
layover.
Exception two: During irregular operations, the Company will attempt to provide
lodging at a Company-approved downtown hotel
Williamsburg doesn't have a downtown. Hasn't had one since the early 19th century. It was in decline until the 1920s when Rockefeller put his weight behind restoring it.

But it's better than downtown Newport News or Hampton, neither are good safe options. The nicest area relatively speaking is next to the airport. Just google map phf and ask for mall or food, do the same for williamsburg and it ain't pretty.

And the downtown idea can be a really bad one too, double edged sword. NYC, gooood. DCA? Great. IND? Awesome. DAY? not so good.

The MEC might just make that policy. Pilots need to be SURE they make their wishes known in the contract survey.

If they don't it'll show the pilot group just how disconnected they are from the pilot groups stance.

I just hope I can sling gear for you at least once after that dang fence comes down!!!(and I'm senior enough to bid it!:D)

I can see it now:

Carl: Gear UP...if you know where the handle is.
Shiz: Gear UP...since you're too old to reach that far.

I just hope you let me fly a leg once in a while. :D
