There is a new Chairman's letter out. Here is just a small excerpt.

"....But let’s be clear. It will soon be time for Delta to make a healthy investment in its pilots in the form of significant PWA improvements...."

Sounds good to me. BRING ON THE SIGNIFICANT PWA IMPROVEMENTS!!!!!!:):D:)

I agree that sounded good and was more in line with what I want to hear from TO. However, I'm reminded of Bill Clinton's "definition of is." I'd like for TO to elaborate a little more on his idea of "significant." I've heard the COLA we obtained to our bankruptcy/emergency rates described as "significant." I hope we're not talking that kind of "significant."

I think our definition of significant would allow you to commute to ATL in your brand new Malibu.....the plane, not the car!!! Ahh screw it, just pick your favorite DC-9 after MEM closes as your commuter plane. Btw, are you bidding back to the 88 again?

You guys are missing the "between the lines". The mention of potential consolidation in the last paragraph is no accident. In fact it makes me think moves are already afoot to acq either AK or both AK and Hawaiian.

W slot swap done and in hand... The western front is next.

I say NO interim mergers. Agreements. Pwa's of ANY kind, until C12 is in the bag. I have moved backwards since this merger as have ALL of my W2's and I'm sick of it.

Typing on iPhone so slow but I think wrt the 777 orders, if it was list price of $298M how many 744s could have been purchased? Because in one day you could have flown 269 people in one direction or 3,760 in 10 different directions or more importantly moved a lot of tonnage in cargo.

I was reading a old magazine the other day talking about the Beechcraft King Air and the article mentioned that "in keeping with traditional Beechcraft values the airplane had top notch flying qualities and interior fit and finish..." That made me wonder, what are our traditional values as an airline?

I think I know one, we buy wisely. The MD90 fleet is indicative of that value. The 739 by all indications was a steal.

We also manage the network wise(r).

But one value I don't want to lose is front line people. Are gate agents, pilots, FAs and rampers should be as wisely managed. Or we will suffer.

I dunno, AK is waaaay too expensive. Hawaiian, maybe sometime soon, they're cheap and fleet compatable. South American piece of AA, with a little JAL/asia thrown in? Too early to speculate and it sounds morbid anyway.

Spot on, but AA needs to finds a dance partner first, that's the holdup...

"Cake!"

Gloopy,

I disagree with you here. You do not value PS passes - OK no worries, but we have 12,000 Pilots that all have different priorities. I personally would love some PS vacation Passes. Why not ask for all of it? Why do positive space passes have to come at the expense of pay, work-rules, scope etc? And no, I am not willing to give up pay to get them - but some guys might.

Are they on top of my list? No, but personally they are currently more valuable to me then the DAL health care plan, commuting policies, and a bunch of other things that I don't use, and even though I don't currently use these items I do realize that they are far more important to the Pilot group as a whole.

Lets not disparage the things that we don't personally value but lets complete the survey - find out what most guys value - and then go after that.

And finally, screw the whole "Pie" analogy - we need a bigger pie! :)

Scoop

Positive space passes are pretty much worthless. I tried to use my one great team passes a couple times. There are never any of the seat class available on the flights I have wanted to take. I want to make enough money to just buy my own tickets on whatever airline is most convenient.

I'm tired of the political banter. I want paid more yesterday. I'm tired of living paycheck to paycheck. This new contract can't come soon enough.

Yeah. I hear all of that. And I truly am not an alarmist. But that was 'couching' language if I have ever read it. As in, " get comfortable and get ready for the show".

I think it is unlikely AA will divest anything. Other than as a threat towards our brotheren currently negotiating over there.

My point is that there is no way I will vote for another merger inANY way... Until we have our concessionary contract removed and a new one in 2012... Or whenever in place. THEN maybe we can talk consolidation. And where the red Swingline stapler is.

If, strike that, when AA finds a new Dance partner, the dynamic on the West Coast changes in regards to Alaska. That's when I would expect a move for HI.
That would be the big dog move...
