Really? ROTFLOL I'd like to see the proof of that.
Proof? When did ASA furloughs start and when did this ALV waiver take effect?;) ALV goes up January 1, 2009 ASA furloughs January 7, 2009 how many block hours can 80 pilots fly in a month? |
Thats really helpfull, I am just a student pilot at Delta Connection Academy and reading about your experience scares me to be honest. I will naturally gain PIC time as an instructor, but where am I going to get Turbine Time, I don't have the money for that. I love flying and I don't see myself doing anything else. But I am concerned that I wont have the necessary requirements to get hired, even after instructing for a couple of years. Well, congratulations and if you have any extra tips or friends that have walked the instructor path let me know. Thanks.

That is what I have been saying for quite some time New.....
I've heard for a while now BP5 w. trip rig and ALV and Res adjustment is worth ~350 bodies. We (N) are already carrying ~ 100 excess already, so ~250 to absorb. (Also heard S has most of the excess over the winter) Of the 300 on the -200 between ANC and MSP, ~75 are very junior and stay that way, leaving the balance to be absorbed in BP5. 50 PERPS could make it a zero sum game in terms of displacements, and more we could have awards, although I'm not sure how the temporary (winter) parking of a ~2-5 744's will be handled. I do know DAL want's to do little to no displacing as possible up North - 100 WB displacements could equal 3-400 DAL-N system wide, all with no freezes and relatively senior and free to bid on AE's to any new positions. No displacements and/or awards and you have a bunch more frozen DAL-N pilots and it becomes a multiplier for less training post SOC. My guess is if they don't get enough PERPS they might even sweeten the deal and offer it again. |

What's still up in the air is how many bite at the PERP and how it's structured. I'm guessing it will have a fairly narrow window so as to allow the last couple of DAL-N APA's to adjust for staffing in either displacements or awards. Hopefully we get substantial takers on both sides :)

Off topic question.
How much is a sick day worth? Contract says 2.5 hrs. pay for a reserve at 100% pay...rolling 300 hrs. etc. Am I looking at this right? 1st year pilot gets 50 hrs. so can call in sick for 20 days in the first year. So if I call in sick for one day and have 50 hrs in sick time, I will have 47.5 afterwards? Thanks. |

It has to stay to at least the guarantee of 65 right? That's enough for me, so you wouldn't hear any complaining from me. Or are they going to release them from that contract requirement as well?:D
That is why it normally is at 72.00 when on the low end. It allows for the line completion range to be at 65.00~ ( +\- 7.5 ) |
