Actually tha article or another puts ATR backlog at 250 for the -600 series, the Q400 is sitting at 40. Bombardier is having problems selling the planes and the Q400 is pretty darn expensive. Probably does well for CAL because of scope issues but I doubt it's their first choice.
Apparently there was a aircraft that crashed in to the grandstands at the Reno Air Race.
I know of a few of our pilots that are there.

Alright if this really is Jimmy Leeward, this is extremely sad.
Leeward's son went to Auburn and I got the opportunity to fly with both of them. Actually with his dad because nobody wanted to come out and do a rental checkout early on a Sunday so I said I would even though I was pretty senior. I had a great time flying with him and even greater time looking at all of the airplanes he had on his license.
He said sometime when I come back with the Mustang I'll take you up. I had people say nice things for years but nobody means it. One day he showed up in his Mustang, Cloud Dancer #9 which evidently was not the mustang involved, and he came and found me and said "want to go around the patch?"
HELL YEAH.
His son Chad is a great guy. His dad said Chad loved to put Auburn stickers on Cloud Dancer. If you look for the Leeward Air Ranch in Florida you can learn more, big homes on a 6000' grass field.
Great flying family, I think Jimmy's father was a hard working airport guy who gave his kid some advice to make money elsewhere and fly for fun. He did real estate and I know owned 2 Mustangs and maybe 3.
He took a dork up in a P-51 because I gave him a rental checkout. Pretty cool guy.
I'll load the pictures I have but this is the P-51 I got to fly in and the next P-51 is the galloping ghost that evidently just got refurbished.

Just talked to one of our guys and the guys that I know are OK out there. There were more closer to the accident though.

Carl
I guess these grand stands were the best seats in the house?
