APC Malaise
My APC funk is the result of Ford Motor Company.
Been fighting it for months ... a Boss 302, Kona Blue, Laguna Seca, Recaro's (because they come with the Torsen LSD) has me thinking $45,000 for a car I drive four times a year might be justifiable. After all, I let the Ford GT get away from me back when I could have afforded it. ... wonder if my wife would mind parking her car out on the driveway? Issues like whether the California Air Resources Board are going to kill the "Track Key" and other issues have temporarily replaced my "ALPA's going to sell my job" angst. Well said. Along the same lines, some people here have claimed that the hat is a "symbol" of Delta management "holding us down" and they don't wear it (Or don't want to) because if Delta management really wanted an image out there they wouldn't be outsourcing to X number of companies who all look different. Really guys? You're going there? I mean, absolutely outsourcing sucks, it dilutes our image and is bad for our Pilot group. No doubt. But to go that far and to say that the hat is a just another way for management to "hold us down" and prove the mind control they have over us is a bit ridiculous and actually quite comical. Fact of the matter is this. The hat is policy. I don't look at it as a symbol of anything other than it being a required part of our Uniform. It looks silly when I see a crew walking down the terminal, one with his hat tucked in his bag and the other guy wearing it. Why even bring the hat? When I see those guys all I can think of is those types of people that talk a good game, but as soon as they are by a Chief Pilot, hat comes on right away. If that wasn't the case, then just leave the hat at home! It's called a uniform for a reason. Uniformity. You can try to spin it any way you want and try to use the hat as a symbol of whatever, but you could also make that argument for ANY part of the uniform. I hate wearing ties, guess I'm just going to start leaving my tie at home. Better yet, I'm going to start wearing black sweats since they are a lot more comfortable. See where this is going? The hat is not a symbol of anything! Just part of the uniform. Oh, and I don't like the hat. Just wear it because Delta tells me to. Simple as that. Tri-Color, I am in my 12th year here and never heard anyone say the hat is a "symbol" of Delta management "holding us down." I have heard many complain about it, and like I said, I don't mind it. I agree with you that it is part of the uniform, get over it guys and just wear it. What I would like to know is why not require DCI guys to wear hats? Why the inconsistency? If hats are professional for Delta pilots, why not require connection pilots to wear hats? Oh and you are 100% correct - outsourcing sucks! Scoop |

Impressive. Also ask questions of him. He will probably propose more questions to you so that you can give valuable input to your reps.

Oh and you are 100% correct - outsourcing sucks! Scoop One of our DCI carriers does not even require wings (or at least no one wears them). How high do you figure those pilots' demands are of their employer? When you understand the contracts the DCI operators strive to meet, you better understand their operations. To win contracts and get contracts renewed they HAVE to be cheapest. That's the survival of the Company. Since most of the ground handling is provided by Delta subsidiary "Regional Elite Airline Services" the only area these airlines can really compete on is the variable expense of pilot and management salaries. If walking through an airport in a thong and shower shoes would so humiliate pilots as to get them to accept a 5% lower contract, GoJets, Mesaba, or some other regional management would be giving it a try. |
Super,
I was looking for a Boss 302 v Holden from GM's Aztek Division and could not find a video. Then I realized the Boss Laguna Seca does not have a back seat, making the filming of a race with a Holden impossible. But as a car for your wife, the GTO probably has a lot of usable trunk space  I did find a video with a stock GT, that will have to suffice ... even though the Mustang driver bogged the launch and must have had a 3.15 rear axle. Despite those deficits, the inevitable occurred. GTO 6.0 vs 2011 Mustang 5.0 - YouTube (just kidding, I'm like Ferris Bueller. I've got nothing that runs at the moment ... sold the toys this spring & don't even have an airplane any more :( I'm enormously fond of your very nice ride :) ) |

George,
Take comfort that at least our code share partners are doing well in Europe and Asia. As I enjoy another month of reserve ... Joint venture partner Air France-KLM reported its September traffic jumped 9.3%, driven by strong demand on the Asia network. Capacity was up 7.5%, and September’s load factor increased 1.5 points to 85.2%. Taking into account last year’s air traffic control strikes, Air France said its capacity growth was more like 5.2%. Traffic on the Asia network was up nearly 10% year over year, and the load factor was up 3 points to 88.8%. Passenger demand for Japan returned to a-year-ago level, but unit revenue remained down, the company said. |

TOS, no advertising.
Sweet!!! I love guerilla marketing! "Our charter brokerage will forgo expensive in ineffective traditional marketing campaigns in favor of a low cost Internet based marketing program that targets Internet websites, blogs... synergistic... value justified... personalization... social media... success metrics... in Cam we CAN..." But this is the wrong place, if you want rich pilots who can charter a G550 you need to go to the Southwest side. |
