Wow, talk about cranky this morning.
Like 80, I'm tired of the negativity and the constant "I got screwed" mentality. Bid what you want, want what you bid, unless of course Sinca thinks it's above your station. Doesn't matter what aircraft your on. Expect to fill in the blanks. More so if your on a senior aircraft/base. That said. Sorry for those who are feeling the shake up. This is a message board. We are pilots. We're geared to b#tch whether we saw it coming or not. |

Still here for at least one more bid. Back to the schoolhouse though. ATLM88B for me.
I'm suddenly outraged that the 88/90 doesn't pay what the other NB's (that have the same # of seats) do. Ahhh, starting to feel like a MD-88 pilot already :p Bump on the headset question: Will a Telex 850 work in the 88? Telex is fine, the MD-88 cockpit is actually very quiet. Until it's not. Usually when your window seals but just be patient because once it goes off like a shotgun everything will be fine. Until you takeoff again. Welcome to the MD-88. And remember the MD-88 don't care, it doesn't give a... |

Try looking at One Thousand Six Hundred pilots hired up to three and a half years after you with absolutely no hope of flying the Widebody airplanes that were brought to the merger, and you might understand how offensive your statement is.
What would have made this palatable is if growth & retirements took the pain out. That isn't happening (and that's Delta, managed by Northwest's, fault, not yours or mine ... we've done our jobs well) Hey look, you & I agree. This merger really, truly, sucked. There is absolutely nothing either of us can do about it, but quit (which is an option I consider carefully with every displacement bid). Until we either find other jobs that are better, or this job gets better, everyone has the same reaction to my beeyatching & your offense ... "Jimmy Crack corn and .... ." So you like Bud Light, Stella, Craft Beers, wine of just checking out the girls? See ya' in 15. Rant over. |

I read Sinca's comment differently. The reality is 07 or later hires ( and even some NWA 01 hires) are sitting in the bottom 10-15% of a 12,000 pilot seniority list.

We are pilots. This is the place to b#tch whether we saw it coming or not. So, if you can't hold a line, bid reserve in higher paying equipment. I went a slightly different way this MD choosing smaller equipment in the hopes of getting a line. Will be close, until they add more folks later. |

http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h2/bobbywn/dnpk.jpg :D Just go ahead and focus on your callouts. "I'll take second break" and "I'll do the landing over there." :D |

Because it is somewhat difficult to commute to reserve up there. But, congratulations, you will LOVE the jet [7ER] where it goes and the pay raise. When Air France implodes, you'll be in a good spot.

There's always something to agree on. What's worse is the "Delta's outsourcing is good for us, we need Delta to make money, lets duty in 30 minutes early and play stump the dummy trivia for five hours from the FOM VOLII and ARM errata" Que one of the D-ALPA Trinity (ALPA, Sailing and the holy Slow) to tell us we held the 767 "out of seniority", that DTW and MSP are good for us since it creates a junior category as everyone not frozen (literally, or contractually) bids Atlanta. |

I've wondered about that. Will we really benefit, or will we be required by the JV to give them half the work no matter what? Are we even "allowed" to grow beyond our current ratios?
Best I can tell, the JV is a "good faith" agreement, the compliance provisions are so loose that Air France / Alitalia are currently well over 50% and nothing can be done about it until mid 2015. ALPA responds truthfully, "management is not out of compliance." I like the idea of the capacity sharing / productivity sharing. No one has told me why we expanded the look back to three years. One year (12 months) was sufficient to allow for seasonal variation. I expect the deal will be modified several times before we ever reach the point where it could be grieved. So, management can do what ever they want to do. |
